Cro Cop's agent turned down a fight with Semmy Schilt!
Reason being, Schilt would have been a tough match-up for Mirko!

Cro Cop’s agent admits to vetoeing Schilt
Bout between strikers would have happened at Dream 1
Mirko Cro Cop is a perfect example of how in the world of MMA a fighter can go from the highest highs to the lowest of lows over the course of just a few fights – in the Croatian’s case, two. Seen as one of the best of all times, and lethal with his punches and kicks, Cro Cop has been the target of much criticism for having left the UFC with losses and having faced an unknown adversary at Dream 1.
The former policeman defends himself saying he lost the will to fight in the United States and had gone through the greatest crisis of his career, but hopes to recover in Japan, facing the best and returning to the famous octagon. His manager, however, Ken Imai, doesn’t seem to have heard him and admitted in an interview with Japanese Kamipro Magazine that he refused a fight against Dutch three-time K-1 GP champion Semmy Schilt, under MMA rules.
“For the first fight in Dream, I rejected the plan for the fight. It was not Mirko’s decision, but mine. For example: I said no to the fight against Semmy Schilt (under MMA rules). For Mirko’s first fight in Dream, Semmy was too difficult,” said the agent, in a rare demonstration of humility when the subject is facing someone in MMA.

Probably a good decision if you ask me. CroCop needed a win to get his confidence back up, however in saying that, a fight against Schilt would be interesting to say the least.

It would have been fun, but definitely not smart. What good is it to go to another Org to clear your head if you step in against a fighter with a better than good chance of KOing you?
Also, I don't see Cro Cop saying no to this fight. I think that the article is probably spot on and that CC had no clue abou this fight. His manager probably made that call right without discussing it with Mirko.

Definitely a good decision, as Semmy Schilt is a horrible match-up for Mirko, and would destroy him.

The man who claims to have made the decision also says that Cro Cop wasn't involved in it.

Bravery and outright stupidity are often one and the same thing. What you would call cowardly I would call smart.

It's a perfectly logical desicion. CC is in a crisis and he should give him one of the most dangerous strikers in mma? Where's the sense in that? Plus Mirko didn't know about it, so I can't believe people would deduce from this post that he is a coward. Although I wouldn't mind seeing them fight if mirko gets back on the track.

You are right on norway. A win over good competition would do the trick. Mirco is a very smart guy. I don't know if beating up cans will bring him back. He knows the difference.
I would have to say this was a smart move. Semmy Schilt is not the right guy to boost his career. Funny you never really see or read about Schilt and today we have a post about him and a toezup trivia question dedicated to him. Who would have thought?
