Mayhem Miller returns on May 11 against Shibata

Jason "Mayhem" Miller (20-5), the charismatic middleweight who's fought for nearly ever major MMA organization, will add the rookie DREAM promotion to his resume when he fights Katsuyori Shibata (2-3) at the organization's May 11 show.

The event takes place May 11 at the Saitama Super Arena in Saitama, Japan. ( today confirmed the bout with an event organizer. The fight was originally reported by

Miller, who's long been on the cusp of a worldwide top-10 rating, will fight for the first time in five months. He last competed at a December HDNet Fights event in Dallas and survived a tough Tim Kennedy for a unanimous-decision victory. It was Miller's eighth win in his past nine fights; the lone loss came to veteran Frank Trigg at a December 2006 ICON Sport event.

Miller's only avenged losses are to Trigg, current UFC welterweight champion Georges St. Pierre, and top WEC middleweight contender Chael Sonnen. Victories have come against the likes of EliteXC middleweight champion Robbie Lawler, popular PRIDE veteran Denis Kang, and Falaniko "Niko" Vitale.

However, Miller now faces a relatively inexperienced fighter in Shibata, who's competed almost exclusively for K-1 HERO'S (which eventually became DREAM) and is riding a three-fight losing streak. Shibata transitioned into MMA after working as a pro-wrestling performer in Japan.

The May 11 event, DREAM.3, is slated to feature the second round of the organization's lightweight grand prix.

I like Mayhem so this is good news to me. Also whats cool is that Mayhem has been fighting for HDnet lately and this shows how Dream is helping HDnet get some of their guys fights

I can only imagine what weird stuff Miller will do with new things legal/illegal...

Shibata is terrible, Mayhem's going to sub him with ease, maybe even TKO him with strikes.

So is DREAM just picking these guys up for this tournament or are they signed for extensive periods of time cuz wasn't mayhem the WEC middlewieght champ?

Kamikaze is now 5-0. Watch his most recent fight here.

I've read that Mayhem/Shibata will be a gp match up. Manhoef will be a reserve.
