Ralek Gracie replaces Cacareco at DREAM 4

Quote:
So it was announced by DREAM. Gracie was originally scheduled to face Mirko Cro Cop in a special grappling rules bout but Filipovic pulled out late due to “injury.” Don’t mind the quotes, I’m sure it was just a typo.

Cacareco’s departure has been blamed both on problems obtaining a visa (his team) and him simply pulling off of the card due to jet lag (DREAM). BloodyElbow has a blurb as I’m sure which side most of us will come down on this.

Current lineup for late, late Saturday night’s show:

* Shinya Aoki vs Katsuhiko Nagata (LWGP)
* Alistair Overeem vs Tae Hyun Lee
* Ralek Gracie vs Alavutdin Gadzhiyev
* Hideo Tokoro vs Darren Uyenoyama
* Dong Sik Yoon vs Gegard Mousasi (MWGP)
* Zelg Galesic vs Taiei Kin (MWGP)
* “Mayhem” Miller vs “Jacare” Souza (MWGP)
* Kazushi Sakuraba vs Melvin Manhoef (MWGP)

The match is still a grappling match or has been turned to an MMA match?

This match has always been an MMA match, Mirko's match with Ralek was the grappling match.

So they've basically replaced Mirko and made it a MMA match isntead of a grappling match, correct?

No.

Like I said before, this fight was never a grappling match, Ralek is replacing Cacareco, not Gadzhiyev replacing Mirko.

If you need more explanation...

Originally...
Mirko vs. Ralek (grappling match)
Gadzhiyev vs. Cacareco (MMA Match)

Then, Mirko got injured so his fight with Ralek was scrapped... Then days later, Cacareco got injured, so they put Ralek in there to fight Gadzhiyev.

Out of all the Gracies, the only guys to show a versed game (on a top level) were Ryan and Renzo. Well that may a bit harsh, but they did it the best.

Ralek, Roger etc. all have great grappling and the name to build a career on. For their sake, take mma seriously.

It looks like Crocop/LeBanner is still on, which is what I was really only interested in. Still, it would have owned to see Croco rock the GI for his fight with Gracie.
