I hadn't seen a lot of Aoki's fights, but wow, what a coward this guy is. Flip the guy off after his arm is broken, and the fans who pay your salary.

I saw one quote from Bruce Lee applied to this fight in a different article, and really liked it. Aoki and Lesnar should make a note.

Bruce Lee - "Showing off is the fool's idea of glory."

I agree with a previous post about Penn too. I thought it would be a waste of time for Penn to expose Aoki, but now I could live with watching him get pummelled for the minute or two he would last against BJ.

His English is very poor! I don't even know if he knows what Thank you means. But why should the translator change his actual sentence? They get decent money for not doing so!

I'm not arguing that he changes his sentence, however I am skeptical about judging any sort of emotional inflection from a translation. It is kind of like trying to judge emotion from a text message.

Yeah, lots of things get easily lost in translation. I really think that Aoki was just pumped because his boss basically said "Go kill him" and he did. Also he talks about that fight being the proverbial "Nail in the coffin" for Sengoku, with whom his employer DREAM has an ongoing feud with. Aoki seems like a really loyal guy, especially to DREAM, and being able to put that nail in the coffin of Sengoku for his boss had to be one hell of a rush. Him flipping Hirota off was like "Yeah **** you Sengoku!" not like "Yeah I just whooped your ass Hirota!" That my take on it given teh circumstances surrounding the events and the way Aoki acts and what he's said.

BTW: Sherdog Article (sheds a little more light on it than Yahoo!)

Quote:
SAITAMA, Japan -- Dream lightweight champion Shinya Aoki not only turned in his most brutal submission Thursday but also his most controversial behavior.

After breaking the arm of Sengoku champion Mizuto Hirota with a hammerlock, the Dream lightweight champion followed it with a middle finger to Hirota, his corner and the audience. Aoki’s actions drew the ire of FEG and Dream officials, as Dream event producer Keichi Sasahara said Aoki was sternly reprimanded for his post-fight celebration.

Although Aoki apologized, his attitude indicated he was not particularly repentant.

“After my fight, I was excited, and so I did something rude that I should apologize for. But that showed just how excited I was over that fight,” said Aoki, despite stating prior to Dynamite that Hirota was a “virtual unknown.”

“When I had his arm behind his back, I could feel it popping,” Aoki said. “I thought, 'Well, this guy's pride just won't let him tap, will it?' So without hesitation, I broke it. I heard it break, and I thought, 'Ah, there, I just broke it.' I was stopped afterward, but even if I hadn't been, continuing to break it more would have been fine by me.”

Sasahara reported Friday that Hirota suffered a fractured humerus.

“Dream got a solid win [with my victory over Hirota], so that was good, but we finished off Sengoku. Although Sengoku was already finished from the very beginning,” Aoki chided, twisting the knife.

Aoki claimed his killer instinct came from a sense of duty to Dream and its management company, Real Entertainment.

“When Sasahara tells me to go and do something, I do it, and that's how I live my life,” he said. “If Sasahara tells me to go to Strikeforce and take them out or 'Go and kill that guy,' I'm going to do it. Even if he tells me to go take out Tanigawa, I'd do that too.”

Bolded part is what makes me think what I do.

As you can tell am a massive Aoki fan, but i was disgusted by his actions after the fight, there's no reason at all to act that way, unless he raped his mother or something which am quite sure he didnt. I dont care if theres a on going feud between the to company's, that is no way to treat your fellow competitor, especially just after you have seriously injured the guy. Why was he flipping off the crowd too? its like he wants to be hated now.

What is with all my fave fighters these days, they are all acting like big dick heads lately.

Wow @ the post fight actions. Son got on his Brock Lesnar shit.

Either way, filthy submission.

''You probably thought this was a bright idea, who hit the light switch? Hype shift, this is where it looks like the fight's fixed, tight fist, beat you with the hand that I write with, punchlines that remind Rodney King of the night sticks...''

We don't look at him for being a douchebag for breaking an arm but for enjoying it as much as he did and flipping the guy off while laughing at him is psychotic.

im thinking its for ratings. If people hate him they will tune in just to see if he gets his face smashed. That or people have been laughing at him for crying after the Mach fight thus the big f.u to the crowd and making a statment by breaking Hirotas arm.

The whole thing was just awesome. I only wish i could understand Japanese so i could get more into the fighters and the pre/post-fight hype.

I believe there was a lot of trash-talk for this fight, i remember reading about Aoki saying he didn't even know who Sengoku's champ was.

Hirota should've tapped.
