Dream Plans to Add Andrei Arlovski, Tim Sylvia
http://www.mmafighting.com/2010/01/0...ki-tim-sylvia/
Quote:
Dream's heavyweight fights consisted mostly of freak shows and mismatches in 2009, but Japan's leading MMA promotion is making noises about beefing up its heavyweight division in 2010.
Specifically, Dream event producer Keichi Sasahara said after Dynamite 2009 that he hopes to bring in former UFC heavyweight champions Tim Sylvia and Andrei Arlovski, perhaps as soon as Dream's first 2010 show in March.
"Maybe after March, or even for the March event, I'd like to invite them over," Sasahara said, per Tony Loiseleur of Sherdog.com. "They've never fought in Japan yet, so I'd like for them to make their way over."
Arlovski suffered a pair of brutal knockout losses to Fedor Emelianenko and Brett Rogers in 2009, but he's still a legitimate heavyweight whose skillset makes him a threat to anyone. Sylvia followed up his own loss to Fedor in 2008 with an embarrassing showing in a knockout loss to former boxer Ray Mercer in 2009, but if he gets himself into shape he could still beat just about anyone Dream could throw at him.
A fourth fight between Sylvia and Arlovski is one possibility for Dream, but I'd rather see them take on other opponents. Josh Barnett, Alistair Overeem, Semmy Schilt and Sergei Kharitonov are among the other top heavyweights we may see in Dream in 2010. If Dream wants to, it can move away from the freak show-style bout and move toward offering MMA fans some very good heavyweight alternatives.

Intresting although I totally see Andrei owning Tim.....

Yeah, even with his glass jaw Arlovski would run through Tim Sylvia right now. Arlovski looked decent against Fedor until that laughable flying knee attempt led him to getting KTFO, and he didn't have chance to look good against Rogers. I'd like to see Arlovski in DREAM and would love to see him string a couple of good wins together and maybe get back into the UFC, he is only 30 after all. Still got some good years left in him I feel.

What an earth do you mean by that? How are wins over Fujita, Thompson, Sylvester, Goodridge, Hunt and Hyun not uber impressive? =p
Overeem has actually stated that he is looking to fight in the US in June or July of next year and is looking at a loss to Fedor....sorry, I mean fight with Fedor as his first Strikeforce title defence. Would be a big one for Strikeforce if they could get it sorted, and if Overeem passes a drugs test. He's had that belt long enough without defending it.

They will make DREAM's heavyweight fights way more competitive, and would've made that Hulk tourney more interesting if they'd been there at the time.

I remember when Alistair was gonna fight in Strikeforce by summer 2009, then it was late 2009, then early 2010, then spring 2010 and now he is saying summer 2010, see where Im going with this?

Haha yeah, I think I can see where you're going with that. I don't honestly see it happening either, I don't see Overeem fighting in the US for a long time, if at all; but you never know. Stranger things have happened. I'd definitely be interested to see the fight if it did come to fruition.

I truly believe that we will see Fedor vs. Overeem this year guys trust me It will definitely be a test for Fedor after a long long time...
And Andrei vs. Tim would be great too. I also see Andrei winning this fight!

Yet if he simply kept his hands up to protect his face he would fair so much better....Training with Freddie Roach really I though that would have been corrected, although Freddie Roach is who he is mainly cuz of Manny.....Such a simple fundamental in boxing to keep your guard up yet Andrei cant....what a waste....

He was big name in boxing long before Manny. Tyson, Hopkins, Toney, Klitchko, Moorer just to name a few. He is definately a world class boxing trainer but he seems to underestimate alot of aspects of MMA.
