*spoilers* what now aoki?

Aoki has proved that he can beat the best Japanese LW out there, but what now? Does he try to come back the USA and fight again. Honestly I don't see a different outcome against Melendez. If Gilbert goes to Japan and fight Aoki would have more of an advantage. No cage and possibly pants (although he didn't need them for Kawajiri). However I still think that Melendez's wrestling is too good for Aoki to catch him in leg locks. Also Coker needs all the top names he can get to fight on his cards, so Japan might not be an option for Melendez. What do you guys think his next should or will be?

I think Strikeforce should send a LW contender to Japan. Maybe.......I donno Josh Thompson or someone.

Who is in line for the LW Tile at Strikeforce? I don't even know.

Aoki absolutely schooled a top-10 lightweight in Kawajiri. Who knows what his next move/fight will be, though. There's absolutely no reason for Melendez to want a rematch (except money).

It seems to me that Aoki wont be satisfied to sit in Japan much longer and fight scrubs, though. I think he's seriously wanting to start fighting the American lightweights as evidenced by the lack of tights. He's preparing himself. I think one or two more wins without the tights and he's going to jump continents.

Either Thomson or Noons is probably next in line. I think Thomson can do the same thing to Aoki Melendez did. Noons gets subbed quick.

If he fights in Strikeforce and loses again, it will really attack the credibility of Japanese fighters. I think there are some interesting fights outside of the UFC (although the UFC would offer the toughest fights for Aoki). There's rematches against Melendez, Alvarez, or Cavalcante. Also there's Thomson.

Aoki announced just after the fight that he will fight Melendez again in Dream September. For the Dream belt of course.

Gilbert better start training in a ring. If he does, I think he'll beat Aoki again.

I'm guessing this is a translation issue - that Aoki really said he'd like to fight Melendez in September but there's really no plans at all nor any sort of concrete interest from Melendez.

Oh thanks for the heads up! That was indeed a translation issue ;D

I hope they can somehow make it happen. I mean Melendez has nobody left to fight right now.. So a Dream belt would look good in my mind. Or they somehow make a Eddy Alvarez fight happen.

Melendez fighting in Dream vs Aoki would be excellent for the sport, I really like the way Dream and SF are willing to work together in a fighters exchange, like when Nick Diaz when to fight in Dream and Aoki came to fight in SF, and it just keeps building with Sergei Kharitonov coming over to fight Big Foot.

This is the way MMA should be run with different organisations throughout the world been willing to work on a even playing field with each other, its just a shame that one organisation has to take the opposite approach and goes out of its way to destroy these kind of relationships, which is the main reason why I support SF over the UFC even tho I accept the UFC has the best pool of fighters they dont have al the best fighters, and I hate the myth that you cant be the best unless you are in the UFC.

Exactly multiple promoters is great for sports. Look what it did for boxing.
