Best Heavyweight High Kickers
Quote:
1-Peter Aerts- Aerts has used the high kick to achieve more than any other fighter. He is good a so many things and has kept the pace of fights so high that slipping in a devastating high kick looked routine.
2-Andy Hug- Andy had terrific technique and phenomenal speed. What many fans fail to notice is that his body was so flexible that opponents rarely saw him lean away for the high kick and were too late to defend.
3-Mirko Filipovic- Filipovic’s high kick doesn’t connect at a tangent. It runs parallel to ground and collides directly into the head. Also notice that the heel of his supporting leg remains braced into the canvas. Very tricky to block and the consequences… OUCH!
4-Glaube Feitosa- The lead leg Brazilian kick is very difficult to read. It is set up like a front kick but rotates at blinding speed until it is making impact at a downward motion to the head. Glaube also throws a few front kicks and roundhouses to keep opponents distracted.
5-Ernesto Hoost- Hoost could be on the top of this list for the aspects of high kicks that fans never notice, the set up and positioning.
6-Remy Bonjasky- Bonjasky has not only a solid grasp of the basics but also proof of creativity. The KO footage against Vernon White shows Remy attempt a flying knee, White ducks out of harms way and Bonjasky changes the technique to a flying high kick while still in the air for a KO win.
7-Alexei Ignashov- Very skilled a high kicks, Ignashov made opponents sweat even when they avoid getting hit. Behind on points against Bregy, Ignashov managed to save the win with a brilliant high kick.
8-Francisco Filho- Not as flashy a kicker as Hug or Feitosa, Filho was a Kyokushin champion thanks in great part to his kicks.
9-Sem Schilt- Schilt is one of the only fighters to use the front kick as a kick rather than a push. With his height advantage, Schilt can direct dangerous kicks down the middle and across the head. Also his height allows him to throw high kicks as shorter men would throw mid kicks.
10-Akio Mori- “Musashi” is best known for his mid kicks but whenever an opponent gets wise to the body attacks, Mori can connect with a high kick.

Agree or disagree with that list?

Definitely agree, they really described Hug, Crocop and Feitosa's kicks well.
I reallly like how they described Feitosa's because thats exactly how they land and theyre so effective.

No, I found it on some small website and thought it was pretty good. They have a couple of other lists that I can post up if you want.

Nice list, I agree.
I had to laugh when they mentioned the Bonjasky/White flying head kick. While that was definetly awesome and gets major style points IMO it was also very lucky.
