Heavyweight Kickboxing's Hardest Hitters

Quote:
1-Jerome LeBanner- JLB would easily make any Top 3 ranking in this category. The list is long of his one hit KOs . We’ve all seen the doctors rush the ring after he slammed an opponent with a hard hit. We know the reason he has the most wins after getting knocked down is because with JLB all it takes is one clean hit and the fight is over.

2-Branko Cikatic- Branko has the record for KOs in a row (4) in the K-1 Grand Prix. For a fighter with marginal skills to win the Grand Prix at age 38 with all KOs, the man had to hit hard. Even when Ernesto Hoost met an even older Branko in a revenge match, Mr. Perfect got knocked out cold.

3-Ray Sefo- For a guy nicknamed Sugarfoot, his hands are pretty terrifying in the sport. Sefo is a very good gatekeeper for the K-1. Any new talent thinking of breaking into the K-1 has to worry about simply making it to the end of a bout against Ray. The K-1 has even openly shown dismay at Sefo for ending fights too quickly.

4-Mark Hunt- Never a dull moment in a Mark Hunt fight. Not only can the man soak up damage like a champ, he can also dish it out. One good example of a typical Mark Hunt fight is the 2002 fight against Stefan Leko. Leko was ahead on points and in the final round Mark made him do the puppet dance. A power puncher like Mark can (and did) have a few sub par rounds and came out on top thanks to a few high impact seconds.

5-Francisco Filho- After slapping the K-1 Grand Prix champion unconscious in his first pro fight, Filho went on to secure all his first 7 wins by KO. Filho commanded enormous respect for his power.

6-Frans Botha- Despite the list of losses, Botha got a lot of respect in the ring for his ability to hit hard. His opponents either ran or blocked. No one wanted to trade hit for hit.

7-Mike Bernardo- Often considered a lesser boxer in the kickboxing ring, Bernardo did what better boxers couldn’t do, KO top ranked kickboxers.

8-Bob Sapp- Without even a thimble of technique, Sapp managed to become on of the hardest hitters in the K-1. My theory is that his swatting style of punching was so alien to fighters that they couldn’t defend properly, and his size made up for the unconventional swing.

9-Peter Aerts- One measure of a power puncher is the man who drops his opponents with punchers to the body. LeBanner, Greco and Bernardo can all give testimony to Peter’s body blows.

10-Mirko Filipovic- Most will agree that Filipovic scored most of his KOs from a beatdown frenzy or a high kick. However, he did break Sapp’s orbital bone with a single punch. That is impact.
This one is a little older so I think thats why Mighty Mo isn't on there. The Bob Sapp one is funny.

You guys know I'm happy with my boy JLB on top of this list. Aside from that I think Sapp doesn't belong on there and Mirko should be higher.

If the list was newer, Mighty Mo would definitely have to be on it. Mighty Mo is a bad mofo and a cool dude too. I used to work with his cousin a few years ago and went out drinking with them a few times. He's the kinda guy that treats you like family if your hanging out.

I was just watching JLB/Sapp in K-1, what a beatdown I loved it. The best part was when JLB put Sapp in the corner and you hear Sapp's cornerman tell Sapp, don't give up Sapp, don't give up and JLB proceeds to tee off on him. Still makes me laugh everytime I see it.

Another reason I love JLB is during one of his mma fights he actually threw up an arm bar attempt.

ahah, I remember that vividly (considering I watched it not to long ago). That was a BAD beating. It was one of those beatings where it wasn't mean to finish quickly, but to teach a fine and thorough lesson.

Yeah, that beatdown was sweet! Sapp must have been thinking " holy s**t, I want my mommy ".

You're right plazz, it was one of those beatings that was meant to maim, not kill.

JLB is by no means a stud on the ground but he does have a black belt in Judo so he can toss some fools around. I love the way he just tossed Frye to the canvas like a little girl when they fought. By the way, Frye was testament to JLBs power, he's got a wooden head and JLB KTFO'd him pretty ugly.
