Glory 2 Brussels: Remy Bonjasky vs Anderson Silva
Quote:
European kickboxing organization Glory has announced the date and main event for their next show, and for any kickboxing fan, the main event is a big one.
On October 6, the company presents GLORY 2 Brussels, and the main event will be 3 time K-1 Grand Prix champion Remy Bonjasky vs. Anderson "Braddock" Silva.
This will be the first fight for Bonjasky in nearly 3 years as the K-1 legend has not fought since the 2009 Grand Prix. After that event, Bonjasky unofficially retired, citing a recurring eye injury that could cause him to permanently lose his vision if he continued fighting. Now, he's healthy and back in action. Here's Bonjasky on his return:
Everything is in place - my health, the support of my team and a place in the world's top kickboxing league. GLORY has put together a roster of the best heavyweights on the planet - the timing for my return and making another run at becoming a world champion is perfect.
Bonjasky has his detractors due to his defense-heavy style, and what some view as a penchant for milking injuries. But he's undeniably one of the best Heavyweights in the history of K-1, and with wins over the likes of Badr Hari, Alistair Overeem and the great Ernesto Hoost, along with those three K-1 Grand Prix crowns, his place in the history books is set. At 36 years old, he still has fight left in him, and it's great to see him back. His signing is a huge coup for Glory.
Still, Silva is a tough test, and by no means a gimme fight. The Brazilian holds wins over Freddy Kemayo, Hesdy Gerges, and Stefan Leko, and should not be overlooked in this fight.
So far, Bonjasky vs. Silva is the only fight announced for GLORY 2 Brussels, though they have also announced the participation of Gokhan Saki, Nieky Holzken, Filip Verlinden, and Andy Ristie.
Look for much more on this show in the coming months.

I hope Anderson chops him to pieces. If there's is ever a Kick boxer that I hate?
Its Remy "Cry Boy" Bonjasky
Want to know why? Go back and see what he did to win a title! SHAME on such guys like this pathetic one.

I never liked Bonjasky much, especially his turtle guard. I still have respect for his skills and accomplishment. He is one of the best strikers ever but that gets tarnished slightly from his tactics and his changing style point scoring strategies fighting elite opponents. Wish he fought with the same tenacity and killer instinct he used against mediocre opponents.
Still I am very glad to have him back.

I don't like Remy either.
I know nobody has come in here all confused as of yet but we should refer to him as Braddock Silva in future so as to avoid said confusion.
Great to hear that Ristie is fighting again. He's become my favourite kickboxer. I think he will beat the winner of Souwer V Kyshenko in the finals of K1 Max.
