Yoshihiro Akiyama!
I'll be honest, I knew very, very little about this guy before he KO'd Kang this evening, only that he went to an NC after the whole grease/skin cream thing with Saku last year.
But wow, you have to believe this fight will get Dana White's attention. After all, he was trying to sign Kang, and well, we know the state of the UFC midleweight division. Is he worth a sniff? What's his contract status?
He seems like a fun fighter, 10-1 and he's finished his opponent in every win.

Then again, like I said, I know very little about Yoshihiro Akiyama. You guys got the skinny on this dude? Is he the real deal?

Im with ya man, I knew very little about the guy myself. I bet on Kang winnin, just cuz Id never really heard much about Akiyama....B-Real seemed very confident in the guy and bet a good 10 million points on him in vbookie...which paid off tremendously! If anythin he seems to be in the know...along wit Damone as you well might have predicted.

Kang is definately his biggest win, obviously the Saku fight was a NC, and he beat Melvin "whats a ground game?" Manhoef.
Has the tools to beat anyone for sure though.

This could be breakthrough win for him. Definitely an attention-grabber. The lack of depth in his weight class in several of the major promotions could help him land a deal, should be become dissatisfied with K-1.
What does HERO's have to offer as far as fighters in his weight class? A rematch with Kang might be nice, too.

Akiyama is crazy underrated I believe I talked about this in a thread before the fight.
Akiyama is hated on so much for "greasing up" but from what I heard he put lotion on in front of camara's so he obviously wasn't trying to cheat.
Akiyama is a top 10 MW IMO and I think he would beat a lot of the top 10.
He has some pretty good striking and his ground game is slick. plus his TDD is great.
Hero's doesn't have much for him to fight. Newton is ther but he's fat. Fabio Silva has lost 2 in a row. He's already fought Manhoef.
Dong Sik Yoon is probably the best they have signed at this moment and I don't think Akiyama would have much trouble with him.
I would like to see Lindland or Lawler against him. But we will probably see Ninja, Misaki, Trigg against him soon I have no inside info that is just my guess.

Yeah, gotta say I'm in a mild state of depression...since Kang lost. But Akiyama HAS to be Top 10 now, right?!
Dude has a very good skill set, with the Judo background and heavy hands. Kang, IMO, was winning the fight before the KO with better exchanges and good low kicks. Akiyama still has a ways to go, but he's definitely a rising talent in the MW Division.
