Andre "Dida" Amade in K-1

Ok Dida is making his K-1 debut in July. Now I personally feel this will be good for his MMA career since while his striking is already very good fighting against the best guys in the world at his size will IMO make him the best 155 pound striker in MMA.

Now he has great knees that are very powerful and throws very good kicks as well. He throws a lot of Haymakers which isn't a good thing but he hits so hard. He's rocked every guys he has ever fought in Heros/Dreams.

K-1 striking and MMA striking are two very different things. Your theory would show if his opponent decided it would be wise to stand for the whole fight, but since it's MMA, he's gotta learn to incorporate TDD, sprawls, attacks and defense on the ground and clinch.

And Dida especially needs to work on his TDD, and worry more about his ground game.

I agree about that but I feel this will help him become one of the better strikers in MMA. He can test himself against world class K-1 guys and improve.
Now he will never be a top fighter without takedown defense and BJJ but working on his striking and improving it against the best in the world will only help him IMO. Win or Lose.

I'm exicted to see him in K-1 also because I personally dont think there is a guy at 155 except maybe BJ who can stand with Dida. I know you think he's very sloppy Plazz but Eddie Alvarez has very good MMA stand up might have the best at LW besides Dida and until Eddie started messing him up on the ground Dida was winning the stand up easily.

In K-1 he will find equal and superior strikers.

I like the idea of Dida in K1 but to improve as an MMA fighter I honestly think he should just by locked in Shogun and Ninjas gym and be allowed to do nothing but eat sleep and practice BJJ.

What I don't understand is his brother Veio is a world reknown BJJ teacher. He ran Toronto BJJ for a longtime before leaving to help Dida, Shogun and Ninja start UDL. I don't get how in a gym where his three co owners are great BJJ guys he sucks so bad.

It actually is pretty mind boggling. It's not even like it's just the weakest part of his game or something even, it's more like "BJJ? What is this so called BJJ you speak of?"

Dida could be so much more. Lets hope he's not another Kevin Randleman style character.

His guard was actually solid the first time he and Alvarez hit the ground but the he got takendown again and just seemed to forget everything.

It's hard to watch because the guys stand up is so damn good.
