JAPAN: K-1 versus Pride
Just an interesting note... i was speaking with a friend of mine from Japan who is visiting the US this week. He knows of both Pride and K-1, but said that K-1 is much more popular in Japan. I was very surprised.
Also, he mentioned that Japanese Pro Wrestling is really struggling right now. Its not doing very well. |
Huh i thought Japanese Pro Wrestling was still huge in japan

K1 japan is 100 times bigger in japan then say k1 usa. It's massive in japan. I love watching it. Tournament formats rules and the gp final is amazing

Puroresu is on huge decline in Japan right now. With the inception of reality-based combat sports, the mystique of the unbeatable Pro Wrestlers has been broken. In turn, it has prompted many Pro Wrestlers to begin training earnestly in MMA. As we know, that has produced varied results in the actual level of skill amongst the fighters commonly matched up in Japan. |
i know alot about pride and ufc but not much about k1 or k1 heros ive seen some clips of genki sudo and hes ****ing amazing could someone please tell me more about it and its rules etc
|
k-1 is kickboxing basicly.
3 minutes rounds, i think its 5 rounds, and im not sure about scoring systems, as the only thing i get when theres a decision is who won. k-1 heroes is mma, rules are the same as pride, except its 5 minutes rounds. |
In K1 you can punch, kick and knee all over the body. Clinching and elbows are not allowed.
It's three rounds off three minutes. If there is no winner judges will score the fight and if it's a draw there will be an extra round of three minutes. If there is no winner after that the judges will score again. This could result in a draw. Same rules apllie for k1 max. I think it's great there is atleast one country that knows how to organize a perfect event. Props for K1 and pride. |
Hey guys....
If K-1 is so big, what do you think we can do on this board to make discussion a bit more popular? Do we have 3 or 4 guys that would be interested in really helping to build this section? I think it would be cool to have 100 or 200 members that are big K-1 fanatics. I'm very interested in learning more myself!! |
