Really? I love the guy. No one busts out the metaphors better then Mike. Plus the dude just oozes passion for the sport.

I think 'awesome' and 'fun' are both in the definition of K-1 Max.

What a great event that was.

Fedor fights I want to see..

Fedor vs. Josh Barnett
Fedor vs. Randy Couture
Fedor vs. Tim Sylvia - DEMOLISHED
Fedor vs. Andrei Arlovski - DEMOLISHED

hmmmmm, i wonder how many become reality..

So does anyone want to explain to me how this all works? I was able to watch this tourney on HDNet but everyone is talking about other guys in the final 16 tourney? What was this tournament for if none of these guys are in the main MAX tourney?

K-1 does tournaments like this one that allow fighters to qualify for the bigger tournament which starts at the Final 16, then goes to the Final 8, then Final 4. So because Kohi won the Japan tournament he automatically gets a spot in the Final 16. They also just had the Holland tournament which Leroy Kaestner won so he will also be in the Final 16.

So is there a tournament for each of the 16 slots? Or do some guys get an automatic berth and others have to fight their way in?

-Top 8 from last year make it automatically.
-4 tournament winners qualify.
-2 picked by K-1 organization/fan vote.

In the GP, the other 2 are the title holders, but I'm not sure how that works for the MAX GP. I'm sure somebody else can help you out.

Ah ok cool, thanks for the info. For some reason HDNet aired the Japan tournament but not the Netherlands tournament

The Japan tournament was a lot of fun though so I am looking forward to future ones.

Final 8 from the previous year qualify, tournament winners from the Japan and European (Holland) tournaments and sometimes the Korea one as well, and then K-1 picks people to fill the rest.
