According to Sakchye Tapsuwan, Chairman of the Amateur Muaythai Association of Thailand (AMAT).
Mr. Sakchye said that Muaythai fighters from Lan Muay Kru Sua youth training facility may also fight in the event, which he hoped would popularise the sport at the global level. In addition, the event organiser has sent a documentary production team to Thailand to film about the life of AMAT Honorary President General Pichit Kullawanit.
“They will also film the tourist attractions and the young Muaythai fighters in Thailand in order to produce a documentary to be aired in Jamaica and many other countries. It will motivate the young to learn muaythai, which is not yet a popular sport in Jamaica,” said Sakchye.
General Pichit was already filmed when he presided over the opening of Lan Muay Kru Sua Camp on March 7 in Bangkok. Sakchye said the facility will be part of a crucial strategy to use Muaythai as a youth activity to combat illegal drug use.
