is he as good as he is hyped up about?
Cung Le is a bad asss. News: He announced on the show "Beatdown" that he will be fighting for Pride at their Las Vegas show. Don't know who he will be fighting, but glad to see him on one of the big MMA shows, he's got some sweet moves and will be fun to watch no doubt.

Hopefully, he will pull out the win..agianst JVF, but JVF is no can. -_- Cung Le, IMO, is underrated. He a great wrestler, he has great BJJ(i think he's a brown belt, he's been doing BJJ for years.) But then again, He is wayy to overhypped. Just saying.

I agree a little bit with what you said. the part of him being ready for mma, yes i agree. him being underated, no. hes a guest talker on the latest beatdown radio on sherdog and hes talking about his training. He trains at AKA and is doin well in standup as usual but is really getting tossed around on the ground by everyone in there. he might be saying it to throw jvf of track but i dont think so, he seems like an honest person. I think Le is gonna win this fight anyway coz jvf is gonna try and stand with him but still if it goes to the ground im leaning to jvf even if i dont like him... nah what the hell!! screw it, Le is much bigger and has a wrestling backround, hes much stronger than jvf so he could probably power out of most submissions jvf can throw at him so Le all the way

K-1

IMO, K-1 pretty much sucks compared to the other MMA I've seen (i.e. Pride & UFC in that order). They had a bunch of old shows on ESPN2 this past weekend while the playoffs were on so I was switching back and forth all day. K-1 sucks cause 1) no knees 2) no hitting while the opponent is down 3) no ground game. Its basically boxing with some leg kicks thrown in, and when leg kicks are the most effective move, its bound to be boring. Plus Hoost gets KO'd by Bob Sapp (well, it was stopped a little early considering Sapp was taking the same beating about 1 minute earlier) and then wins the Championship cause Sapp can't go? He also got a pass when his other opponent got hurt kicking him in the knee. It was good for the entertainment fill, but I thought it was a step below the other two. Cung Le however was fun to watch, he was doing some wild moves tossing guys all over the place, leg sweeps ect.

Yea, thats K-1 kickboxing, not MMA. Totally different game, nothing but strikes, except in Cung Le's case where he was in some San Shou (I can't remember the exact spelling) rules, where you scored points for taking an opponent down, but you weren't able to strike them when he got them down.

Ernesto Hoost, Bob Sapp, LeBanner, they fight kickboxing rules. Except when you saw "Big Daddy" Gary Goodridge's MMA instincts kick in when he knocked out his opponent and hit him while he was on the ground. That was pretty entertaining.

Michael McDonald was a pretty fun K-1 fighter to watch. Nice handspeed, and he hits combination after combination. No, I am not talking about the former Doobie Brother.

Bonjasky vs McDonald in the GP finals was pretty fun stuff.

with regards to the K-1 comments, if you wanna see real exciting stuff, watch K-1 MAX. its the same format as K-1 with the whole GP stuff, but limited to fighters at 150 and below i believe...anyways, look up Buakaw if you wanna see some of the best Muay Thai technique (translated to K-1 rules) in the world...

now with regards to Cung Le, i'll be interested to see who he fights in the PRIDE show...the guy can strike, but not sure how much he knows about the ground game...sure san shou includes takedowns, but i'd suppose hes still really raw in terms of his sub techniques....

I've seen a few of his sanshou fights and I wasn't that impressed with the sport itself, it didn't have a really good flow to it, the ref was constantly involved. The throws scored points but didn't really do any damage to the opponent so I didn't really care for them. I'm interested to see how he does in MMA. I'm sure he'll be fine in standup but on the ground, it might be a long learning process as Mark Hunt is finding out.

The top K-1 fighters such as Hoost, McDonald, and Bonjansky are amazing fighters. I think McDonald beat Cro-Cop?
