K-1 Grand PrixK-1 is a combat sport that combines stand up techniques from Muay Thai, Karate, Savate, San shou, Kickboxing and traditional Boxing to determine the single best stand-up fighter in the world (the "1").
i dont know much about him, besides 3 bronze medals, and some other wikepedia info, but seen his fight against Shonie Carter, and he has some nice moves, but def. not on the same level as GSP or BJ Penn, does he still compete in MMA? or K1?
is he as good as he is hyped up about?
One positive thing to say about Von Flue is that he's not boring. I also sort of liked JVF vs Gurgel. Still, it's like Dana found this guy in a K-Mart parking lot.
I like Le and watching him in K-1 was fantastic. The man can stop a lot of people standing up and his ground game is supposed to be getting better and better. I'm psyched to see where his career takes him.
He'll destroy guys in smaller organization. This guy has credentials that are on a similar level to a young BJ Penn. I like BJ, but I also thing that, comparatively, Cung has the better work ethic.
I think that eventually Cung will end up where the money is, and that's the UFC. He also knows that right now in the Welterweight division the UFC is looking better than PRIDE. Fighting GSP, Hughes and Penn is something that he can shoot for and, in time, I wouldn't be surprised if he gives them a run for it.
Keep your eyes on this guy, because he is going places. And I expect him to wipe the floor with JVF.
i've watched some of his fights, doesn't seem like he has what it takes to beat much less offer a good fight against alot of the WW in UFC. like GSP,Penn,Hughes,Diego etc..
I think the one thing about Cung Le that has to said about the level of his opponents is that they are right about where they need to be as a MMA Rookie. Yes... Rookie.
Sure, he has a long K-1/Sanshou record. Regardless, he and his trainers know that MMA is a completely different beast. It doesn't make sense to send him in with the upper echelon guys right now because he wouldn't be able to compete (yes, this is coming from a fan of his).
Now if he's still fighting guys with less than a 50% Win Record 5 fights from now, then somethings wrong. But for now, he's right where he should be.
