Lesner in K1?

...I don't see the connection between Lesner & Royce. I mean if Royce teaches Brock some ground skills, Lesner would be close to being unbeatable in MMA. Now K-1 is a whole different ballgame. Lesner's striking skills are nowhere near the level of K-1 strikers. Royce is a submission master. What does that have to do with K-1 which is nothing but stand-up?... I can't see the connection.
...If it was Ernesto Hoost who was to train Lesner then it would make much better sense.

This took place while Brock was still wrestling in Japan, Royce help Brock get into MMA and trained a little with him. Brock fought his first MMA fight in K-1 and then signed with UFC.
