They sometimes have mixed cards, which feature both K-1 matches and mma matches like there upcoming Fields Dynamite card on New Years Eve. Simple answer, actual K-1 fighting is kickboxing.

Yeah, bro if you love kickboxing you will love K-1, the WGP this year was one of the most exciting I have seen in awhile, it's definitely worth staying up all night just to watch it live.
