So I'm Watching K-1 Max

And it's exciting as **** but after sitting back and REALLY watching it (as well as overeems fight last night) i really don't believe that they are the most technical strikers in the world.

they have zero footwok and just come forward and throw bombs, they are pretty much just brawlers they don't use angles or try to set up strikes at all.

Now having said that they are still the most effective (i would not like to eat a leg kick) but not the most technical
boxers are more technical.

but now i must get back to watching it.

Edit:It's Gotten a lot better

It depends who you are watching Petrosyan and Remy are absurdly technical. The way combat sports are scored dictates how the competitors fight also. It is a lot harder to get a 10-9 round in K1 than MMA or boxing. If you don't score a knockdown you basically run the risk of losing the fight because you lost one round. Which makes it beneficial to the fighters to take more risks and thus makes the fights more exciting. Point fighting is ******* boring you can't make money off of it.

A bit offtopic, but where is Bonjasky? He was my favourite K1 fighter, when I used to watch it more back in the day, but now he hasn't fought almost for a year. Some injury problems?

yeah true the limited rounds really need for them to go all out.

He suffered an eye injury. He made a long post about it on his website here http://www.remybonjasky.com/news_more.html?id=15

Badr had another meltdown so he is taking a break from fighting.

Might also stem a bit from the old muay thai rules where anytime you moved backwards you lost points (some orgs still do that). So you end up with two guys going toe to toe until one man falls.
'Technique' tends to invole movement in and out, defensive strategies etc.
The mindset in K1 is generally go for as many knockdowns as possible as quickly as possible so it can appear more brawling in nature.
But just look at the technique on some of the kicks or Reems counter punching.
Good Technique should surely be what works best, most effective, and I think most of the K1 guys have that down pretty well.

You really need to see Petrosyan in action. The dude is insanely good. I wish he made the switch over to MMA.

Ape speaks the truth.

I'd be delighted if I never had to see him fight ever again.

I'm slightly torn about that, Mirage. I don't want to see him fight again because I don't want to reward that kind of behavior with a paycheck for Badr.

At the same time he could potentially get his ass kicked, which would be so gratifying to watch.

I wish Overeem had won the rematch.
