Right, and if that's how it happened it doesn't explain how feathers are so built for flying. Like the only reason birds can fly is because of how their feathers are built, and of course some animals like bats don't need feathers for some reason. But still, lizards never had feathers before there were birds right? So even if they all started learning how to jump and all that, whoever/whatever is in control of evolution had to have done something to make them start growing feathers, because that gene at one time never existed. So where did it come from? How did evolution transform a scaley featherless reptile into a modern bird?

i remember dino books from my kiddie years with pictures of T-rex with feathers... but i doubt it... if anything, you might have seen a raptor with feathers as they would have been more genetically similar to birds than a T-rex; smaller, sleaker, more agile...

oh and by the way, i get that "did i dream that or did it happen" bullshit all the time... so inconviniant!

lol yea it sucks. In my mind I remember my uncle or maybe my mom (we talk about this crazy stuff a lot at family get togethers) recently telling me that they just discovered the Trex may have had feathers. I don't remember seeing pics with Trex's with feathers when I was a kid...not saying you're wrong just saying I never seen that before. I guess I could do a quick search to see if any Trex/feather related news is out.

I think there's two words which describe the why and how of evolution. 1) adaptation 2)entropy with regard to the aforementioned adaptation and any external factors which may affect it
