Sunday Million is coming up!
You playing in the mirrion? Good luck man. I'm playing a few tourneys tonight aswell. Was thinking about the million but the buy-in it's a bit steep for me atm.

Right now I'm registered/playing in these:
MicroMillions-098: $22 NL Hold'em Main Event [$1M Gtd, $150K+ to 1st!]
The Bigger $11 [$120K Gtd]
$3.30+R NL Hold'em [$20K Gtd]
MicroMillions-097: $11 NL Hold'em [Sunday Storm Special Edition, $300K Gtd]

Will probably play some more, how many more depends on how I'm feeling.

Let's goooo

Edit: Decided to try to sat into Sunday Million. Lost with AK against A9 all in pre for a Million ticket ****.

Edit: Early double up in the MicroMillions $11, AA>QQ all in preflop.

Well, only several small cashes throughout the course of the two week return to online poker. Must say competition is a lot stiffer now, but I did beat inyourmind34 which I'm quite pleased. I knew he was tough, but didn't realize how good he was. My AK held up vs his A10 flush draw giving me chip leader status. Sadly I would lose set over set later on. Right then and there it showed me A.) there's too many variables B.) in order to win long term one has to play high volume C.) consistency and patience rule the day

I'm conflicted to see whether I should continue online as I have to run my own business and playing poker part time or on the side is extremely time consuming as I'd like to go at it full time. Live games are different as I play once or twice a week in tournies or cash games.

This is my candid assessment on online poker.

Yeah I agree totally, online poker, and tourneys in particular, is a ridiculously hard grind. The majority of the time you'll spend 7-8 hours of your day plowing through the field only to lose a coinflip when the blinds catch up to you, on the bubble or for a min-cash. It's a super tough way to make a living. I find the cash games a lot easier to deal with, as you can better manage your own hours and play when you feel like it. The really big money is in the tournaments, and if you play well and run well you can bink a huge score, but it's a grind man, a real grind. My hats off to the MTT grinders out there.

It's a hard way to make an easy living.

Came in just under 40th place out of 3190ish players and all I made was $20. The tournies are very top heavy which means you need to place in the top 10. Even still the "real money" is top three. I know it can happen as I have colleagues who have cashed in the WSOPs. My plan is to retire from my job then play so I don't have to worry about money. I believe psychologically one plays differently if they have backers on the line or playing with money they need for their mortgage. In that respect Paul Dotcom Phillips, Phil Gordon, and Guy Liberte are ones to emulate even though he may not be a good poker player...lolz...he can definitely afford it. From what I know and heard MANY of the pros are staked.

How many hours are you putting in. Assessing my options at the moment. I was about to put in a sizeable chunk as these last two weeks were a test run. Then I realized how much work I have to put in. Screws up my biological clock and my health goes down the toilet...lolz! That's one thing about poker. If you notice, most people are pretty unhealthy. They eat chips, Gatorade, energy drinks, candy bars, or in Mike Matusow's case meth to stay awake...ROFLZ!

How much of an advantage does poker tracker provide. What kind of info does it give on your opponents. Bet patterns, post flop %, pre-flop bets, aggression, showdown, chart wins/losses, career EV, etc.

Week's not over yet, but I just had a rough night.

Earlier this week made $165, minus a minor loss ($80) the week before so up $85. Last night played in a fast and furious 1-2 game that was more like 2-4. Negative $435 which is my worst loss in years.

Got bet out of my top pair AQ with a flush on the turn.
AK loses to a A10 flip. Fish re-raises pre-flop with it too and of course at that point I ship. Who raises hard with A10 off out of position...

Pocket 10's lost to a guy with a set although I didn't put in much ($20) thankfully cuz I was set mining. Ironically pocket 8's hits his set in the window and beats a guy who had QK two pair.

This was a frustrating hand.
What would you have done Luck Box.
Pocket JJs -
$12 x 4 = $48 in pot
FLOP: Q108
Initial raiser leads out with $25. I call.
7 on the turn.
He leads out again with $35. I call.
9 on the river.
He bets out $35 again. I call.

What do you think he had and what would you have done in those streets. A pre-flop raise is out of the question unless it's all in. But I'm not there to win a small pot.

Oh and I lost AA earlier to a flush...haha. A friend of mine was down -$700 in less than an hour, but he made a good portion back. Hopefully he regained it.

These guys are no different than the players online who are even crazier. They simply hit and my cards didn't hold. One guy hit every single draw. Beginning to wonder if I should have stopped when I lost AA to AJ earlier on.

Oh well, round three tonight!

Forget UFC on FOX, forget Pacquiao/Marquez, this is the bloodbath of the weekend.

Playing style should be categorized as "maniacs." :P

Had a buddy who met Dwan. Said he's pretty dorky, but had a hot blonde chick. Should be interesting.

Been reading up on triple draw, badugi, and Omaha 8 lately. Time to add more games to my repertoire.

Finished a video seminar on Omaha from Mr. Sweets. He understands the game quite profoundly. It's taken me seven years to learn NLH. Time to learn a new game.

Going to play a live tourney tonight! Playing three small tournies atm. Going to cash small in one of em.

Dwan's nemesis is truly Viktor Blom.

Galfond is the greatest poker mind of the online generation. His videos are the nuts, I've watched tons of them. What videos of his were you watching?

You might be aware of this already, but Galfond recently launched his own video training site www.runitonce.com, featuring vids by him, fellow high stakes legend Di "Urindanger" Dang and young swedish whizzkid Isildr00n to name a few. By the looks of it it will be the best poker training site there is. I'm taking a break from poker right now till the new year, then I'm gonna sign up. For Omaha that site is the nuts.

I'll take a look at that.

Group of us who are making runs on poker. One got backed and lost it all. Now he's running games. Another lost $20k in wsop playin' tournies...lolz! Crazy friend lost $20k playing PLO and has quit poker altogether. Another cashed $30k in the main. Good friend won 3rd place x 2 + another cash and is running hot. Out of everyone only one is an online pro making six figures. So it really got me thinking. What makes them successful. Three of them have a substantial bankroll. The one who lost $20k in the main always loses, but still continues to play. Even banned himself from the casinos. Go figure. Online pro smokes weed and is just the most patient player you'll ever meet.

Good to take a break to reassess your game. I did that for ONE YEAR. Probably going to make a run on online again definitely not in the low micro limits. Too much of a grind. Probably low to mid and play some tournies.

Profitted the most playing 5-10/10-20, but bankroll is not at that level anymore. I wonder if Omaha will be the next big thing.

PS: Try playing higher stakes. It'll take you forever to win anything meaningful at micro stakes. You have a really good mind for poker at your age.
