Being American.

I'm the only person in my entire extended family who was born in America. My sister, who's three years older was the first person in our entire extended family to be born outside of Scotland.

My entire family HATES Americans. Like absolutely, blindly hates them. Hates everything about them.

And at times like Christmas, when I have 5 of them staying at my house, it gets really f******* grating after a while.

Does anyone else have any experience with this? They never call me out for being American, but they take every opportunity to take little potshots at Americans. I live in Canada now, but it still really gets on my nerves.

Just wondering if anyone else experiences this. It's a LOT worse since the beginning of the 'war on terror' and it hasn't got any better since Obama became president, although they all LOVE him for whatever reason.

In case you didn't know at least 90% of the world hates america for various reasons jealousy, arrogance, small country syndrome etc. It doesn't really make sense why they do but you just gotta say meh ok then. The only thing I dislike about america is what we all hated about america and that was those scumbag bankers who screwed up so badly by betting against there own customers it screwed the hwole world up financially. But again that's just american bankers.

I believe Jim Jefferies said it best.

The reason everyone hates America and shits on them for everything even though most countries do the same things and have the same problems is because Americans care about being number one and people hate people who love to be number one. Especially when they aren't number one. America is twenty something in education but first in confidence where as China is first in education and last in confidence. So who do you want working on your car? The nervous doesn't want to make a mistake genius Asian? Or the guy that drills without looking and says perfect?

Doesn't matter I'm Canadian. Spent most of my life in the states but whenever I go to Quebec where most of my family lives they hate on the US. But French Canadians hate on everything not French Canadian.

I certainly disagree with a lot of American politics and such, but I've never singled out a lone American and made fun of them because of it.

Just because I don't agree with your politics and such, doesn't mean that you as an American aren't a lovely bloke ;) Why can't we all just get along? :p

Oh and BTW, a lot of people around the world do indeed look down upon Americans as being fat, violence loving, nipple scared, PC dictated people. But every culture has it's stereotypes. I bet many people outside of Europe see us as snobby idiots.

Even here in the Nordic countries we all have certain stereotypes attached to us. Us Danes are seen as offensive, drunk and weirdly happy people :p

I think its an incredibly myopic to hate a whole nation. Each person is different. Xenophobia is rife and only serves to illustrate how easy it is to indoctrinate the mindless folk who are glued to their TVs.

Living in Canada, and having my whole family from the UK, the easy response is always just 'if you hate us so much, why do you let us tell you what to do all the time?' And it's funny because I really identify as Canadian at this point, having lived here for more than half my life, but there's just that little bit of American in me that can't help standing up for the states every time someone talks shit, even in situations that have been pretty dicey in the past like in bars full of drunken Canucks.

Just this morning, I'm reading the Vancouver Sun and it's the top 10 CANADIAN sports moments of the year written by two guys and they've BOTH taken the time to dedicate space to talking shit about America's gun 'problem'. It's just everywhere you look in this country. It's like they're obsessed. What does the top 10 Canadian sports moments of the year have to do with Sandy Hook?

I see a parallel with the Roman Empire and the USA. While they enjoyed over a millenia of dominance the USA became a super power after WWII. The USA was forged on war. They had to fight the British to gain their independence even though they were from Europe strangely enough. This is why everyone carries guns in America. It's always been like that from day one. From riding shotgun in the wagons to "protect" themselves from the "savage" natives, to the civil war, WWI, WWII, Nam, Korean War, Iraq, Afghanistan, and now you got a kid packing heat because he didn't want to get shot in school. It is indeed a crazy time in our young civilization.

Back to the Romans. They conquered and subjugated all nations from the UK all the way to Africa. Currently the US is involved in about a hundred different wars and proxy battles. This is what's draining the treasury and resources. Eventually Roman military and citizens became a minority and foreign slaves were a majority. The US had their open door policy and allowed immigrants which isn't a bad thing, but the WASPS are becoming far and few with the minorities becoming a majority as well. So there's a lot of dissension within. Eventually the Roman empire broke into to the West and East. The West falling first and the East becoming the Byzantine Empire and eventually falling to the Ottoman Empire.

To see where America is going sadly all one has to do is look at the past history. Flip side would you rather have the Middle East rule or China... The British Empire gave birth to the English language among many other things. People hate what they don't understand. America is broke...but they have one thing and that's MILITARY MIGHT. They must continue their imperialism to consolidate resources. Without oil they will be too heavily dependent on the Middle East which in turn will make them wealthy. Gaddafi was the richest man in the planet so they took em out and absorbed his countries vast oil reserves. Same with Iraq. Iran is next. It is part of the GRAND CHESS BOARD GEOPOLITICAL STRATEGY.

*note*
They've already done many simulated war games. There's different codes.
Code 1: War with Canada
Code 2: War with Mexico
Code 3: War with Russian & China
Code 4: War with Iran and entire middle east which is basically happening as we speak.
Code 5: Civil war.

As for Code 4 all points to Israel being completely decimated with other middle east countries sent back to the stone ages. That's the whole goal. Depopulation, set their competitors back 20-50 years, and consolidate resources to maintain superiority.

Welcome to civilization.

Americans are much more patriotic than most nations and most movies and television in English come out of the states and are based there. Its half and half with patriotism and exposure.
