This is sort of off topic, but the statement about the bird reminded me of Leonardo DaVinci. According to one of my professors DaVinci was able to draw a hummingbird in flight (and if you've ever seen a hummingbird, they flap their wings super fast). After the video technology was developed and a hummingbird was filmed flying, it showed that DaVinci had it right. Some think that he was able to draw that because he was able to see/feel/hear/whatever a 4th dimension.

But back to the topic, I don't get the science channel. Let me know how the series is though.

carl sagan once explained a possible 4th dimension.

if you look at a shadow, it's a 2-D representation of our 3-D world. so, our 3-D perception is essentially the shadow of the 4th dimension!

stick that in your pipe and smoke it!

That's crazy,...I never heard that before. I remember when I was a kid eating at applebee's or TGI fridays or something and my kids menu said a hummingbird flaps there wings like 80 times per second. I always thought that was insane to think about. It also had something about ants being proportionally 3x smarter than humans or something like that.

we just think we're the best cause we destroy everything in our path... but if you ask me, humans are the most dangerous, delicate and irrational species on the planet.

on the subject of animals; i think it's pretty creepy that Dolphins, one of the smartest animals on the planet--almost as good as us actually--are one of the few animals besides humans to have sex purely for pleasure and to kill just for fun!

One of my high school teachers was in the military during Vietnam (but he was stationed in Panama working on land mine testing) and he said that scientists believe there is a type of ant in Central America that can communicate with each other via ESP. The reason the scientist thought this (it may be disproved by now, this was in the 1960's to 1970's) was because the scientists would try to obstruct a line of ants by sticking a stick in front of the line and almost immediately more ants came and removed the stick but none of them came out of the line. Also, when the ants found food there would be tons of ants coming to get the food immediately after they found it (not like the ants had time to go back to the hole and "tell" the other ants). It was interesting to hear.

Yea I have heard something about that too, don't remember much but I think you're right. (not that exact story but something similar recently within the last 10 years)

perhaps back then they just didn't know about chemical or electro-chemical communication. that's prolly what it was. but still, that is some crazy shit!
