You realize when they find life on another planet how big the story will be? I don't mean life as in micro type life. I'm talking about real life.

Imagine when they find a planet, go there, and come back with something cool. And how weird the life will look, or will it not look weird and look surprisingly a lot like our life?

If you think about it, most everything on Earth has a head with a body attached. That might look very very odd to aliens. Think about it, we have a round shaped ball that controls us, with giant stuff(the body) growing from the round shaped ball that moves us about. Weird to even talk about lol

I want this story to happen before I die more than anything. I would give one of my arms for this story to happen. It would be so interesting. Unless of course they were hostile and killed or enslaved us. I guess that wouldn't be so 'interesting' lol

LOL, yea but if they were malevolent they would have killed us by now.

I don't really get why the scientists are so focused on water still. We know life doesn't need water to exist, that's an old theory. Life exists on earth without water OR sunlight OR moderate temperatures. Just because we need water doesn't mean another life form can't need silica instead.

Interesting story nonetheless.

there's no garauntee that other intellegent life will even remotely resemble us. our biological makeup is simply a result of the way this planet developed. although, there are probably similar requirements and characteristics throughout life, but for all we know, a planet hospitable to life that is covered in water might hold intellegent beings equivelant to us, yet can't breath air! it's not unlikely... anyone ever research octopi, squid and cuddlefish? the're super smart and are probably the most intellegent life in the sea, besides dolphins!

I think its hard for people to even comprehend not breathing air or needing water.

For example, think about space and how it NEVER ends. It just keeps going on and on and on. That's enough to make you crazy. How can it never end damnit! How did it start! I need a Valium...

first off, toss me a val too... secondly, i think it's hard for people to imagine other "people" not being like us. nobody--unless your crazy--has a hard time imagining dogs from Titan or slugs on Io, but the problem with humans, is we anthropomorphize everything. we tend to imagine a human element to everything--hense why the god notion persists... we need to imagine nature has a personality, so it might as well be god. we think of other intellegent life in the galaxy as green human beings or blue people with tails... but the problem with most people is they don't realize how lukcy we are that mammals, and then primates were the species to become so dominant as to produce us. but on another planet, so unique and different than ours, why couldn't a "slug" or " squid" have evolved to reason and imagine just like us hairless primates?

once people are able to let go of the idea that we are somehow "sacred" and understand that we are simply products of nature, then it becomes much easier to imagine life as limited to a select few places but not so impossible as to require some divine intellegence. life is no doubt special and rare, but certainly not unique to this planet!
