First "Earth-like" planet found outside our solar system!

Potentially habitable planet found - Yahoo! News

discoveries like this are one of the few things that allow me to step back from the shit on this worthless rock, and realize the wonder and marvels the universe holds. it's one of the only times i don't feel that life is "inevitable" or "typical"...

whiskey, racism, money, grease, twinkie's, guns.....yep lol thats about it

good find, +rep

edit : I dont think ive got my point acrossed on how good this find is, not only is their planets out there that humans can live in, but its also a boost to astrology and the advancement of speed and technology, countering inertia and finding new fuel has been a battle, hopefully know they will receive the funding needed.

dark matter (that is really what they call it) has proven to be a powerful fuel, but it is cost so much.

as for inertia, good luck with that one, their have been hollywood ideas (gravity combustion whatever) on startrek and starwars in order to travel fast and not crush the human boddy.

inertial dampeners. and don't think we're going to find some new amazing propulsion system yet. our world, and especially America, is so hell-bent and addicted to oil as the only way to make things go, that any idea of alternate fuels is stricken down with furious hatered. just look at how fast our president is pushing for alternate fuels, as opposed to starting a war solely for the reason of securing Iraqi oil fields!

i'm not being rude, but i really don't know what you said.

did you imply that humans might already be living on that planet? i hope not, because "human" life is unique to earth. any life arising on another planet would be unique to that planet's evolution and life.

i think all life is pretty amazing to survive anywhere... in actuality, the success of life is very rare. after all, only less than a 1/4 of all the species ever on earth are still around!

any life that keeps going is impressive, but yeah, especially in such extreme places like Jupiter or something. But if Jupiter has life, it's on it's moons... those moons are crazy!
