everyone deserves an opportunity to have a better life, i think most would agree with that. but, you are absolutely right pt447... it should be done legally. this sets up a double standard legally. there is a current law that all citizens must provide legal i.d. when requested by an law enforcement official. without which law enforcement would never be able to determine if anyone has or had priors or warrants. so, in a sense these individuals that are here illegally would have more freedoms than that of its citizens. i live and own a construction business in dallas tx. here, much like in az. (as leviathon noted) is a high number of illegal immigrant that call this place "home". it's true, most of these men are extremly hard working, and all tell terrible stories of there struggles to get here so that they will be able to help loved ones back home in mexico. such bravery to leave everything that they know and loved back home, just so they can come here and earn $8 an hour in some back breaking job doesn't bother me. it's the fact that for the most part they live here, and benefit from the opportunities, but care nothing about this country.
they all pay taxes on goods and services, but fail to contribute to federal programs because they are not registered with the i.r.s. i doubt that any level headed american would have issues with someone who comes here legally to obtain the benefits of this country but SHARES THE BURDEN! it's bad enough that the rest of the world hates us because of our corrupt political leaders, but on top of that were stuck here, as a country divided.
