I encountered people like that at college house parties. And recently at the get together my husband and I had for UFC 164. This dude really thought it would be okay to start playing some Dave Matthews song during the middle of Poirer/Koch and I about flipped out. I don't even know why he was there, looked like a friend of my youngest brother although my brother doesn't usually hang out with hipsters.
I don't mind humble musicians. I'm in a band myself (we're called the Red Canyon Sledgehammers by the way) and love to play guitar. I played "Lenny" by Stevie Ray Vaughan for my kiddos when they were babies to put them to sleep. But I'm not full of myself enough to just pull out a guitar infront of a crowd of strangers and start using it as a tool to get attention. It's ridiculous and embarrassing.
Come to find out there are a lot of things that "grind my gears".
