your Sanctuary

Where a man likes to hang out can speak lengths to his character and I thought it would be neat to know what everyones favorite hang out is it a outside, a bar gym whatever be as specific or general as you want.. think for a minuet and what is your favorite place to be and describe it.

My favorite place is a place that sadly no longer exist, My sanctuary is an old time pool hall (much like you see in the movie the hustler). Hard wood floors a jazz or blues live band and a bar. I loved it the crack of the billiard ball smacking together smell of cigaret ash feel of hard wool floors and pool cue and the sound of the band topped off with a little bourbon and it was heaven for me. Sadly with changing laws (smoking ban) and society places like that are extremely hard to come by these days as the last one that was close to me. closed about a year ago.

My sanctuary used to be a place called Temptations in Plymouth, two of my old roommates used to work there as dancers. The bar staff were funny as hell and always welcoming, the locals and regulars were a sideshow all of their own. I used to just sit at the bar with my buddies and a few drinks and watch all walks of life come in and out of that place.

Every now and then I'd help the girls with their makeup and just chat about life and have a good laugh at all the outrageous stories they had to tell, be it about punters misbehaving there, or just life in general. It's a place where, if you're made of strong stuff you'd love it, but if you had any noticeable weakness, the customers would tear you up.

Kinda sad I'm not part of that scene, but I'm currently in search of a new sanctuary as I am in dire need of one.

My "sanctuary" would be my bedroom as lame as it sounds. Don't get me wrong, I love going out with friends and socializing with people, but I am very much an independent person in the sense that a lot of the time when I am not working, I like to keep to myself and unless I am in party mode, I am not a big fan of noisy places.

My bedroom is where my tv, xbox, computer is. The things on the wall are all things that I enjoy. Most of the time my gf and my puppy are laying in the bed hanging out and it's just nice to relax in a room that is all about me. (Sounds somewhat self centered. :P )

I'm with this. My house is my sanctuary. The only other place where I feel best at is out my boat fishing with nothing but the sound of nature.

Great topic.

Anywhere near a water; lake, pond, stream, well, aquarium, ocean. It has a calming effect.

As for watering hole wow...so many. A good sports pub, good cheap eats, tap specials, cute waitresses, with large TV screens is good for me.

Maximus: For the glory of the Empire, sire.

Baked, not fried... the healthy choice.

Sitting on top of the tallest hill on the mountain getting lifted before I snowboard down it. If not up in the cold air, then on top of the sand. Wilderness basically, where ever I don't have to see or hear everyone else.

I like MMA less because of this forum

Same here. My bedroom is the first thing that came to my mind.

I like my house but if I stay there for more than an hour I feel almost trapped and isolated from society

Mats. Doesn't matter where as long as I can roll. Which right now is not at all.

That or headphones. I don't really have a one place. But when I need to get my time headphones go on and I just go on vacation for a little while.

It speaks volumes I think that all my favorite places are where people don't speak a whole lot.
