America, one of the least peaceful nations?

US Ranks As One Of World's Least Peaceful Nations | The Huffington Post

this is interesting stuff. also of note, is how we rank almost last in education, math, science, and general intellegence. WE also are considered the most "religious" country, and have the largest prison population in the world...

maybe we shouldn't give people life sentances for growing a plant in their house...

whiskey, racism, money, grease, twinkie's, guns.....yep lol thats about it

No one gets life sentences for ****s. Take a criminal justice class.

Most religous? Least peaceful? Guys, I'd seroiusly take this list with a grain of salt. I am not gonna pick any countries by name, but there are tons of places I'd be afraid to just walk down the street (because of my skin color and religion). And there are tons of places where a certain religion is mandatory to have in your life.

actually, you can go to jail for a life sentance if you have a certian number of marijuana plants growing on your property. whether or not you intend to sell any, you still get charged with it. essentially, you're getting charged with a crime you didn't commit!

and we are one of the most overtly religious countries... maybe besides Iraq...

and we do have the highest prison population.

also, we're one of the few "superpowers" with guns readily available at walmart...

Got a link from a credible source?

I would expect most Middle East and most of Africa and several places in Asia and several places South America are more religous than the US. Which leads me to wonder how they decided religous. There are several ways to determine religious to skew the results.

That doesn't surprise me.

I really don't want to change the topic, and lets not. But let me just say that guns do not equal violence or crime. This is coming from someone who owns 4 guns, knows the gun laws, and etc etc etc etc.

guns don't equal violant crime, but it does present another opportunity for violance. especially when guns are so engrained into our culture. by the way, i'm not even against guns, it's just an observation. but forget all that.

crap, double post. Refer to the one below.

Re. the Oregon law. 10 years is BS, but I don't care how much they fine them. Its written in law and the people know that is a crime and that is the punishment, it is purely their choice. They don't have to do it. Fine 'em for all their worth for all I care, I just don't wanna pay for them (my taxes) to sit in a cell.

Wow, I am shocked. Thanks, I'll give you reps for proving me wrong . As much as I disagree with selling drvgs to high school kids (re. the Alabama kid) and that the guy is a scum bag that is friggin overkill. I hate to think tax payers have to pay for that ass (no pun intented ) to sit in a cell.

well this turned out much more civil than i was expecting. i'm glad to have enlightened you on some of the bull**** that's going on with people who just want to get a little high.

also, selling ****s to kids is wrong. i didn't do anything till i was in my later years of college, and i think that's the way to go. you have time to mature and develop your reasoning before you influence them. this way you don't "go bad".

anyway, something i've come to think about. the concept of "getting high" has such a stigma to it, but all around me i look at the "straigt edge" world and see examples of hypocrisy. for instance, have you ever watched someone who smokes cigarettes? it's a ritual to them, something they desire and need, at times, more than anything.

smoking a cigarette is just the same as "getting high". they smoke to feel differently. same with alcohol. the worst part, is that marijuana is almost a billion times better than tobacco or alcohol. there is no know leathel dosage of marijuana, and while it can cause the same lung problems as cigarettes, there are dozens of healthy, smoke-free options like vaporizors to use marijuana with. you can also eat it.

the point is that the prohibition on marijuana has nothing to do with the marijauan itself, the health factors invovled--as evidenced by its irrefutible pain-management benefits--and even the people who use/buy/sell/grow marijuana.

it's not a **** simply because people call it one.

I am very open to an intelligient discussion about it.

That is my biggest problem with drvgs of any kind is the ritual you speak of. I have co workers who go out almost every night and get hammered. The next morning they are complaining about how bad they feel yet they do it again later that week. I have friends who use marijuana and it seems their ultimate goal is to just smoke more. If they get money, they should buy marijuana. If they have free time, they should smoke marijuana. If they wanna have fun, they should smoke marijuana. To me it seems very counter producive if society behaved like that.

I am biased, because I have never touched the stuff. Except on rare occassion alcohol. From someone on the outside it doesn't look like a healthy way to live. I don't care how you slice it, anything that you put in your mouth and burn is bad for you.
