KnockinUout: Good stuff. I think it might be easier to just post up one piece at a time. It makes it easier for the person reading to wrap their head around it.

My contribution for today:

Souvenirs of Yesterday's Relationship
by, J. Bongat--1993

I found the picture you gave me that day.
It's hard to find the words to say.
I can't remember why you gave it at all.
The reasons it happened, I don't want to recall.

I want to forget the words that came out.
I wish we didn't yell--I wish we didn't shout.
I wish there was a reason for this not to be.
I wish that you were still here talking to me.

I don't walk by the places we used to go.
Thru rainy days and sunshine--even the snow.
I thought we were forever--I really did believe.
The thoughts of us seperate I couldn't conceive.

Then that fateful day--it happened so soon.
Both of us together by the light of the moon.
I can't see at all what I did to you.
I can't see at all what I didn't do.

You left my presence leaving no trace.
My only souvenir was a slap on the face.
I find out now you did yourself in.
What was my fault, my unforgivable sin?

I guess it's too late to make you see,
I wanted to give more than what you left me.
There's nothing left to pick up, nothing to do,
But look sadly and cry upon a one-sided view.

I'm left to think through these lonely days.
Hoping a good thing will come my way.
If I'm alone in a soon tomorrow,
I will come to you--I will surely follow.

It doesn't matter if you agree or disagree... As long as I don't bore you and I spark a moment of thought, my goal is achieved.

Yeah, that's all mine. J. Bongat is me. I don't make it a habit to post my full name on public fora. I kinda' like the anonymity that teh interwebz allows people.

It doesn't matter if you agree or disagree... As long as I don't bore you and I spark a moment of thought, my goal is achieved.

Okay... Here's a short little piece to wrap your head around. I did a few pieces that I called my "double entendre's" a few years back. Unfortunately, this is the only I still have on file (after all the computers and Hard Drives I've gone through over the last 7 years or so). It has two meanings, the first which is obvious. The second is pretty easy to find when you consider the first thing you see.

Peaches
by, J.Bongat -- 8 Aug 00

What is this in front of me?
Heaven sent and ripe--a peach.
Engorged and juicy a simple pleasure,
Never taken for granted or unappreciated.

I think I'll take a bite.

The overflowing juices and flesh,
Hither to me enlivened in joy.
In each savory bite a mouthful,
None can ever try to compare.
Kindly released in simple nuances of taste.

Oh how I love peaches.
Forever a god send of simplicity and nature.

To think you may go unnoticed.
I would not be so unkind,
To not be willing to take a bite,
So bountifully full and beautiful.

It doesn't matter if you agree or disagree... As long as I don't bore you and I spark a moment of thought, my goal is achieved.

Another one for your contemplation...

Cricket's Cry
by, J. Bongat--1993

Sitting in the dark asking "Why?"
You're petting you blind dog,
Listening to the crickets cry.
Asking a reason just to be.
No hope at all,
There's none to see.

You re-cap the jar of Vaseline.
Your only friend,
Is your hand it seems.
No one to talk to--no one to call,
You sit and watch Fido,
Run into the wall.

Another thing--like thorazines--would be nice.
Only problem is, it won't suffice.
Sitting still while time goes by,
Going crazy while the crickets cry.

To all humans you're inferior.
You yell at the face,
In your mirror.
Face it now--you hate yourself.
No good feelings,
Not even thorazines help.

Spit on the wall, now in your face,
What little hope you had,
Left without a trace.
Greater the esteem in a mouse,
Than you would find,
All over your house.

A loud bang, a hole in your head,
A quick finger and now you're dead.
Family asking--asking "Why?"
Personally, I blame the cricket's cry.

--fin--

It doesn't matter if you agree or disagree... As long as I don't bore you and I spark a moment of thought, my goal is achieved.

Because all the smoke and fire is causing he sky to darken...

Here's my contribution for today. Ironically it is entitled...

Today
by, J. Bongat--1992

Today,
There are no shadows today.
The sun hides its face.
No light of hope may shine a way,
Thru the clouds of gloom no trace,
No glimmer,
Of life.
Of light.
No hope.

Today,
Our hopes overcast by shades of grey.
No light, no dark, no sound.
No hopeful face shines today,
A gloom unrealized is around,
This world,
In which,
We exist,
No knowledge of the next day to come.

Yesterday,
The shadows of merry men danced away,
The woes of gloomy clouds.
They feared the opulent happiness of the day.
No worry and no concern had shroud,
This spirit.
A person,
So free.
Hear me. . .

Please,
Listen to me--to what I say.
To better the 'morrow to come.
For tommorow is coming today.
To help the fortunate some.
The're those,
Who don't,
Reach it.
The're those. . .

Tomorrow,
It is too late to listen then.
We must stop, listen now, and think.
The end it comes we know not when,
We teeter on the brink.
Add one,
Add two,
To tomorrow,
A day.

A day,
Another day to be!
To dance away, to sing!
A gift to give, fom me,
From you, a hapiness 'bring,
To all.
Totally free.
A shadow,
Cast by carefree men.

And me,
I care to lend,
To this poem and end.
A blessing, a song,
To be heard for long.

As we listen may we ponder,
This ragged edge of life we stay.
It doesn't take long this wonder,
It can come today.

Thru shadow cast a ray,
Light of hope.
Cloud of doom.
The end we know,
Oblivion soon. . .

Maybe.

It doesn't matter if you agree or disagree... As long as I don't bore you and I spark a moment of thought, my goal is achieved.

ANNABELLE LEE

Author: Edgar Allan Poe

It was many and many a year ago,
In a kingdom by the sea,
That a maiden there lived whom you may know
By the name of Annabel Lee;
And this maiden she lived with no other thought
Than to love and be loved by me.

I was a child and she was a child,
In this kingdom by the sea;
But we loved with a love that was more than love -
I and my Annabel Lee;
With a love that the winged seraphs of heaven
Coveted her and me.
And this was the reason that, long ago,
In this kingdom by the sea,
A wind blew out of a cloud, chilling
My beautiful Annabel Lee;
So that her highborn kinsman came
And bore her away from me,
To shut her up in a sepulcher
In this kingdom by the sea.
The angels, not half so happy in heaven,
Went envying her and me
Yes! that was the reason
(as all men know, In this kingdom by the sea)
That the wind came out of the cloud by night,
Chilling and killing my Annabel Lee.

But our love was stronger by far than the love
Of those who were older than we
Of many far wiser than we
And neither the angels in heaven above,
Nor the demons down under the sea,
Can ever dissever my soul from the soul
Of the beautiful Annabel Lee.
For the moon never beams without bringing me dreams
Of the beautiful Annabel Lee;
And the stars never rise but I feel the bright eyes
Of the beautiful Annabel Lee;
And so, all the night-tide, I lie down by the side
Of my darling, my darling, my life and my bride,
In the sepulcher there by the sea,
In her tomb by the sounding sea.
