Are Different Races Inherently Smarter/Dumber Than Other Races? Studies Say Yes...

This is something I've always wondered. I'll make my opinion on this short and sweet because I am about to watch TUF from last night.

Anyway, I've always wondered if each race is born to be more or less intelligent than other races. The Japanese always score highest on test scores. Indian kids come over to our country and within a few years they are winning spelling bees. Whites seem to be self-righteous, greedy, and war mongering. Blacks seem to be...well unfortunately IMHO in general maybe a little less intelligent than other races. That sounds horrible I know, but I'm not saying it's true at all. Just theorizing. I think their vocabulary and (for some, not all) poor life choices are the only evidence I have to say something like that. So take it with a grain of salt.

Before anyone calls me a bigot, think about this. How often do you hear people say things like "Border collies are smart breeds", or "Yorkshire Terriers are usually dumb and mean", or "Golden Retrievers are so sweet and lovable". Why is it okay to say things like that about animals, but for some reason it is IMPOSSIBLE for the same type of thing to apply to humans as well? Why is that so horrible?

Regardless of whether it sounds horrible or not, I'm not just talking out of my ass. There is a new study that says I could be right.

Check it out: Fury at DNA pioneer's theory: Africans are less intelligent than Westerners - Independent Online Edition > Science & Tech

it's an interesting proposition. and if you really think about it, it's not too far fetched. it makes sense that different "races" of humans developed different, and varied cognitive functions. now, as some of you might remember, i'm against the idea that any human is really different than another, but obviously just from looking at all our variety, you can see evolution at work. so, it makes sense that our brains might have developed differently to combat different puzzles, problems, and situations which arose in different places.

but of course, unless this study is more widely accepted, and comes to a consensus among the scientific community, it is just one theory.

whiskey, racism, money, grease, twinkie's, guns.....yep lol thats about it

Yeah this study is interesting, I saw it before. Anyone who calls the researcher racist is just ignorant. He has done his study and published his findings, he didn't say he hated blacks or anything.

Good post.

Because those are different species.I take it back hes probably not racist but there are still a lot of obvious mistakes in his work no researcher what would miss, especially someone who worked with Francis Crick and Maurice Wilkins.

You're exactly right. I guess it is a sensitive subject. But we are all adults here. Well, most of us are, but the ones who aren't are pretty mature (Biowza and GMW). Let's talk about this honestly.

For one, are you sure that different breeds = different species? What the scientist is proposing is basically each race is a different species. He is a highly reputable scientist, and it's not a far-fetched theory. It would also make just about no sense to say this simply because he's a racist and he feels like slandering his own name for the hell of it. He was one of the founding researchers of DNA...the guy knows his shit. If he says that there are DNA differences between races...I'm a little inclined to believe him. However I never fully believe anything. You could be right for all I know. After this year in MMA I am thoroughly convinced that anything can happen.

The definition of species amongst animals is that two individuals that can produce fertile offspring together belong to the same species. So that would make all human races the same species, and almost all dog breeds the same species (except a newfoundland male and a chihuahua female and such, which makes the whole definition kind of strange, but perhaps there's some way around it).

from a stricktly biological point of view the idea of race is meaningless when applied to a human. There is often more genetic drift between people of the same "race" that across "races" (I use " " because, again... meaningless). Dogs on the other hand have been specifically bred to maintain a certain level of genetic differentiation; it would be more corect to call it a subspecies. What you call race is nothing more than a sociological phenomena created by our ancestors, partly due to the fact that our brain works as a semantic database; we put like with like, thereby making memory retreival more efficient. Yes, this is a very simplistic explanation of human cognitive process; but aside for regional differences and superfisial gene expression, the fact still remains that what people call "race" is not a real biological criterium.

Besides what jamaya says, from what I gather from his research, is he is choosing specific gene pools and applying across the board to all people of that race.
It's really odd he would come to this conclusion and especially that he would use the term race at all. This guy was the head of the human genome project and was there when crick and wilkins discovered DNA was a double helix. It's dissapointing such a great scientist would say this =( .

breed is not the same as species. two different species cannot breed. two different breeds can. but, they are all still dogs. just like we're all still humans. all this study shows is nothing. we are all humans, and we are all equal.
