International movies

I'm hoping someone can help me out here. I've purchased a few dvds off of ebay. They were all international dvds. The list includes, The Descent (I ordered it way before it was released here, yes it was released in the UK first), Casshern, Battle Royale, Celio, The Eye and Audition. I've seen some others, but I haven't purchased them yet. I've come to realize that when it comes to horror and action, other countries seem to do it better and with far less special effects. I'm looking to get some more, but it is hard for me to find a good site that lists movies with reviews from other countries. I'd like to know what movies you guys would recommend or what sites you think would be good to check out. Some movies I'm thinking about buying are Azumi, Ichi the Killer, and Oldboy. I know a few people who don't even realize that 28 days later was a UK movie first So, how about it guys, can you help me out.

Well, I'm looking for anything as long as it's good, but if I had to choose a genre it would probably be Horror or Action. The only thing I don't like about most Japanese movies is that the plot and storylines always seem to suck and make no sense.

My memory is not as fresh as it used to be when it comes to inter films.

The one that's really stuck in my brain right now is "Layer Cake". great great movie, Im sure youve seen it, if you havnt, its got Daniel Craig in it.

Theres also Zatoichi, a Japanese movie, pretty decent 3

Ill get back to you once my list is refreshed

Holy crap wow the movies you are looking for are pretty good... especially Oldboy. This movie is such a TWISTED TWISTED tale of how far someone would go for vengeance. It is a must see, and I am glad to see Korean movies on the rise.

Ichi the Killer really didn't do it for me, maybe it is because i watch Japanese movies for their senselessness (Versus and Death Trance comes to mind.) If you like to watch a whole lot of senseless violence with breakdancing ninjas, then i suggest you get Death Trance. If you liked the choreographed sequences in Devil May Cry 3 then you will love Versus and Death Trance cause they were all directed by the same person.

I have not seen Casshern but I have only heard good things from it, so purchase at your own risk.

There are a lot of Chinese films I would recommend but most of the dvds might not be formatted for your desired region.
Take a look anyway at YesAsia.com: Free Shipping on Asian (Chinese, Japanese, Korean) DVDs, CDs, TV Drama, Karaoke, Anime, Manga, Games, Books, Posters, Gifts, Toys, and more! for movies

Edit Note: hehe forgot to list a good Chinese movie called Flash Point... this movie might not be available in your region format but it is a prequel to Sha Po Lang (KillZone in U.S.) starring Donnie Yen. I definitely recommend KillZone cause Donnie actually throws in a few Jiu Jitsu (MMA) moves into the choreograph of this movie.

Thanks guys, I'll look into these movies. I already have Casshern K-A-P. It's a really good movie when it comes to visuals and action scenes. The story gets really weird. Overall I would recommend it. I've been wanting to give Versus a try, so that one might be next on my list. Plazzman, Layer Cake sounds familiar, but I don't think I've seen it. I will surely order it though if you think it is good.

Any end of the world type movies our there that are good? Aliens, asteroids, whatever lol.

Old Boy is great. Dunno if you know it but it's number two of Park Chan-wook's vengeance trilogy. Sympathy For Mr Vengeance and Sympathy For Lady Vengeance are the other two and are also good.

I watched Versus again the other night, damn that film is stupidly funny.

Old Boy is good. I suggest Holocaust Cannibal and Spiral. Do you want suggestions for just Horror flicks SNS or any foreign films that's worth watching?
