Sad Movie Scenes that Always Get You (Thread will contain spoilers)

Leave your manliness out the door...post scenes in movies that just about seem to get the best of your emotions each time. Or that matter, just sad scenes that you've cried too...but maybe not every time, or just the first time.

Big Fish - last 10 minutes, so hard to resist. His son finishing the story with him, the funeral. First time I watched this my emotions were just drained, just insane.

Terminator 2 - Never did a character with such little depth leave a gigantic impact in the end scene.

Homeward Bound - Shadow is stuck in the mud, tells Chance to go on without him.

Fox and the Hound - Many parts

Lion King - Mufasas death

American History X - Danny is shot and killed.

Good Will Hunting - Sean gets through to Will.

City of God - "Your foot..or your hand".

Forrest Gump - Grave scene

Deer Hunter - Russian roulette with Nicky

Neverending Story - Quicksand

Grave of the Fire Flies - All of it

Platoon - Extremely tough film to watch without shedding one, which ever scene you feel more attached too when you watch it, but it's usually when Elias is reaching up to the sky.

So there are some of mine.

God that was a depressing movie.

You know what scenes draw tears and goosebumps for me more than the sad/death ones? The noble scenes. The warrior going off to battle knowing he's facing certain death ones. I don't know why, they just make me feel like I wish I was that noble warrior/soldier, even though I know in reality I would never do such things. They draw out my emotions and spark my imagination.

The strangest thing is i never actually feel sad for a sad part of a movie ever except for one movie and out of all things it is "Click" near the end when Adam Sandler runs out of the hospital in the rain, I have no clue why.

The end of requiem for a dream. That final montage is really sad.

Wow, I haven't seen some of them, but those are spot on. I completely forgot about Homeward Bound. Lol, it isn't fair to use animals...Great thread.

PS - I hear great things about City of God, but have never seen it. You recommend?

Definitely one of the most intense scenes I can remember. I don't think I found it that sad though.

You have some of mine in your list

Neverending story: quicksand

Fox and the hound:

Roommates:this is not that big of a movie so I am guessing allot of you have not seen it but if you have not go rent this it a great movie but you will tear up I dont care who you are. it's a comedy drama.

The War with Kevin Costner: this movie used to get me allot more so then now but that is just because I have seen the movie allot and can somewhat prepare myself for certain parts.

grrr brainfart well anyways the movie with Sean Penn and Dakota Fanning I got choked up during that movie.

City of angels I just plain wanted to shoot myself after that movie man that was depressing

Million Dollar Baby-tragic and great film making.

Saving Private Ryan-I weep like a baby when he is asking if he has lived a good life with his wife and kids.

ET-always got me as a kid.

I know its not manly to admit but Steel Magnolias gets me.

Fried Green Tomatoes-the story she tells about the river, when, cannot think of name, is on the death bed.

Mystic River-just about any scene.

Sleepers-creeped me out and depressed the shit out of me for a long time after watching it.

Shawshank Redemption-get to me in different parts.

Star Trek 2-Spocks death scene.

I never find movies sad, it's always incredibly weird things that get me.

Black Beauty - (I shit you not) Firstly that guys voice.....man that rips my heart apart. That guy could announce the weather and I'd get depressed. Secondly that is one sad ass movie.

Futurama - Jurassic Bark
If you can watch this without shedding a tear, you have no soul.

It's animals aswell, you guys are so right about Homeward bound and the neverending story.

I found the old woman(well, not old, but ya know) in Requiem for a dream hard to take, didn't really give a crap for the rest of the characters.

Shawshank Redemption - Dude hangs himself.
