Scarface' is a 1983 crime film directed by Brian De Palma, written by Oliver Stone and starring Al Pacino as Tony Montana. It tells the story of a fictional Cuban refugee who comes to Florida in 1980 as a result of the Mariel Boatlift.

Montana becomes a gangster against the backdrop of the 1980s cocaine boom. The film chronicles his rise to the top of Miami's criminal underworld and subsequent downfall in Greek tragedy fashion. The film is dedicated to Howard Hawks and Ben Hecht, who were the writers of the original Scarface. The film is a loose remake of Hawks's 1932 film of the same title.

-Movie Summary-

Goodfellas (also spelled GoodFellas) is an Academy Award winning 1990 crime drama film directed by Martin Scorsese, based on the book Wiseguy by Nicholas Pileggi, the true story of Henry Hill. The film follows the rise and fall of three gangsters, spanning three decades.

Scorsese originally intended to direct Goodfellas before The Last Temptation of Christ, but when funds materialized to make Last Temptation, he postponed what was then known as Wise Guy. The title of Pileggi's book had already been used for a TV series and for Brian De Palma's 1986 comedy Wise Guys, so Pileggi and Scorsese changed the name of their film to Goodfellas.

Goodfellas wipes the floor with Scarface. Its got a modern realistic view on it all and didnt glorify the mafia as such a highly touted organization (i'm looking at you godfather!!!). To me Goodfellas is the king of Mafia movies.

Really difficult choice. Goodfellas is a better made movie but Scarface has the better standout scenes and memorable one liners. Both of which I will quite happily watch again and again. Its a caoin toss but gonna go with Scarface and if you don't agree: "You know what? F_ck you! How about that?"

Went with Goodfellas, personal preferrence but I don't really think it's fair to compare. They are so different as movies.

Joe Pesci is the shit.

Not even close. Goodfellas has 3 stars that are all incredible in their respective roles.

Scarface has Al Pacino. Don't say Robbert Loggia is a star either.

Winner Goodfellas and it wasn't even close.

GoodFellas by a mile. Scarface is good but Al Pacino overacts the crap out of his roles and Scarface is no exception.

Besides, GoodFellas has so many bad ass lines.

Scarface was getting killed in the poll so I voted for it. Honestly love both movies(gots 'em on DVD)- great stories based on true life subjects, great acting in both, nasty cutthroat scenes in both, each had great soundtracks and scenes that were just absolutely freaking awesome.
