well, asside from staring at budding boobies... the fact is, this is total crap! people are slowly forgetting how important social interaction is at school. knowlege and tests are one thing (and severely over-stressed, IMO), but the major thing we learn as we grow up in school, is how to interact in a society! if you learn match with only guys, and girls vica-verca, what perceptions will you begin to form about the other sex? also, if this is elective, what are we saying, that parents can choose whether or not their kids learn with the opposite sex? great, now we get religious people trying to avoid "sin" and "temptation" in favor of text-book-only learning!

just bad news!

Old "W" and his entire administration are heading this country in the complete wrong direction, its sad really. I'm just waiting for conservatives to get off their high horses and realize the times are changing.

they won't! the only thing that will change this country is the old-heads leaving office, or dying. until then nothing will change. but, as the system is set up so the people have no say, they'll just get younger assholes into power instead of people who care for the people of this country instead of perpetuating a rich, ruling class of hypocrytical bullshitters!

Man all this Bush bashing and Cbingham is no where to be found

I agree with PT447 and the rest of you, co-ed schools has far more pros than cons. I got shitty grades in school, but that doesn't mean I didn't learn. I just didn't like doing school work on time. I always did it just never on time. I taught myself most of the knowledge I know mostly math and such that is about the only class I excelled in. I wouldn't be the person I am today if girls weren't in my school. Sounds like another dumb ploy in an attempt to draw our attention away from REAL problems. If they really wanna educate the right way, then they'll do it by not teaching to the dumbest kid in the class. Do it like they do in Germany, you go to school until 6th grade, then they just decide whether you are smart or dumb then. If you're smart, you will continue through school with the rest of the smart kids, if you're not smart, then you go to trade school to learn a trade. That's the most efficient way....girls/boys coed classrooms mean nothing.

the people in charge are just so baffled over how to fix our ****-hole education system, they are grasping at dirty straws! this isn't going to fix anything. its so unbelievable, i just don't believe it it's just so crazy. how about getting rid of "no child left behind". there isn't a single teacher in america that thinks this is a good idea. did anyone consult a single teacher before inacting this inane bullshit? highly doubtfull!

Im not a Busch hater by any means. But this is ridiculous. The most imporatant things you learn in school by far are social interaction and certain life lessons. Academics are imporatant but the majority of the things we learn is we will never need to know.
