BAAAAAAAAAAAAA HAHAHAHAHAAHA!!!!

Love it!

Looks almost as good as that movie with Randy and Frank Shamrock. "You're Red Robe awaits!!!"

Spoilers

I actually have a screener copy of this movie and have seen it twice. Although it wasn't great, it does star a surprisingly chunky Tiffany Amber Thiessen who lends a little much-needed talent (I know, I know, but seriously, she looks like a pro next to most of the inexperienced nobodies in this cast with only a couple notable exceptions) to this film. Luckily it never becomes a "love interest" situation, because I'm not sure I would actually have liked to see her outside of the minimum three layers (usually including a heavy jacket) she wears throughout the film to cover the extra weight she's carrying.

It has a very Terminator 2-ey feel, with Rich starting out as an emotionless cyborg, but eventually developing into a caring human, if still a badass killing machine. The T2 style also compensated to some degree for his lack of real dramatic acting skills- like Arnie, he can do deadpan pretty well.

The effects were passable if not great, and the plot was trite, although not quite boring.

It was nowhere NEAR as bad as the movie with shamrock and couture (YOUR RED ROBE AWAITS) and actually stuck to its humble premise without overreaching. I think as Rich's first starring performance it was pretty damn good.

Everybody good, plenty of slaves for my robot colony?

If Randy Couture, Frank Shamrock and his brother Ken are allowed to make bad B movies why not Ace!

Don't forget to mention Ken Shamrocks movie (Ken Shamrock vs. Danny Trejo). Champions was ten times worse then No Rules.

You forget that this isn't just some brutal sport where everyones out to kill each other. Its much more like a game of physical chess.-looney liam

....but I've already seen Universal Soldier.

Besides, Dolph and Jean Claude are way tougher than Rich.

Demian Maia may be the Fred Astaire of jiu-jitsu, but it’s too bad Silva is the Gene Kelly of kicking everyone’s ass.

Although it shares some common themes, the movies really are nothing alike.

You're probably right. Universal Soldier was actually watchable

I thought the trailer was about him trying to gain his freedom or something with the help of a cute chick....sounds like Universal Soldier to me! Or is it more like the 6 million dollar man. Does rich go "nananananana" when he runs?

Needs Danny Trejo hamming it up.

...and Ken Shamrock as the main villain. His name? Mister Fister! Why do they call him that? Because he has 2 huge, monstrous fists!!!!!

*************************MORE SPOILERS

Well for the one thing, the primary thrust of the plot - Van Damme's rivalry with Lundgren as soldiers built with similar technology, but of different ethics, becoming more heated as Van Damme regains his humanity, resulting in the inevitable clash- is gone. There is no Lundgren analog in this film. It's basically Rich against an evil agency with a female sheriff helping out. Both he and his main rival are scientists in fact.

Most action movies have a female co-star these days, and the backgrounds of the enhanced soldiers in US and CS are completely different (not to mention there is only the 1 in CS).

I guess i'm not sure if you were just being funny or if you're really dismissing this film out of hand, but I watch a lot of movies and this wasn't really as bad as it should have been, and dismissing it as a US rip off is doing it a bit of a disservice, it's worth a try if only to support rich's career
