California Proposition 8...Really?

So for those of you who don't know, Prop 8, if passed, will make gay marriage illegal. And it looks like it's going to pass. WTF. The Christian Right is at it again violating other people's rights. Can anyone explain why gay people deserve fewer rights than straight people, without using any Bible references?

EDIT: It passed.

how does two people that you dont even know getting married affect you in the least?

Legal marrage is fine for homosexuals. Absolutly no problem with it and I'm pretty conservative.

now whether or not it belongs in a church is another story.

So let me get this straight.

Is the Union of Homosexuals allowed in the US, like Canada, or are their no particular rights yet?

And second, which party passed this prop?

Just sad that there are people so focused on reducing the rights of any particular denomination in this day and age. Goes to show that despite the opinions of news anchors... there's stil civil rights work to do.

Others.

Demian Maia may be the Fred Astaire of jiu-jitsu, but it’s too bad Silva is the Gene Kelly of kicking everyone’s ass.

Obama opposes same-sex marriage but he also opposes a constitutional ban on it

so no I don't believe it was him

it was probably the governator

I forgot where I heard this, but the best argument for gay marriage in my opinion is this, if two people who don't truly love each other are allowed to get married, why shouldn't two people of the same sex who actually love each other not be allowed to get married?
