a little equation i came up with a few years back. it's based off the mantra of power corrupts, and absolute power corrupts absolutely.
it has to do with religion, which claims absolute authority. absolute authority is the same thing as absolute power, therefore:
absolute power corrupts absolutely
religion(religious power) is absolute, therefore
religion(religious power) corrupts absolotely!
it's basically a standard logical syllogism where A=B & B=C then A=C
i forget all my terms for each part of the equation, but it IS a sound argument!
it is innavoidable for religion to be corrupt. i ran this by one of my profs and he said that in terms of logic, and assuming that for religion to have power, it has to claim absolute authority, the equation is true! lol...
