Question Skin gets itchy when I start to sweat

This has kinda happened several times before, but it was right after I got out of the shower those times. Tonight after bjj practice I was doing some "exercise" and I started to sweat, and all the sudden the backs of my legs started to itch REALLY bad. It was momentarily unbearable, all I could do was lay there until my body cooled down and it went away.

Wtf happened?

if its a leather chair, then yeah "exercise" gonna do that every time.... cloth chair will do it too, but leather chair will do it everytime.

You guys should probably get tested for AIDS. Sounds like it could be the culprit IMO.

Actually, when you say the backs of your legs do you mean on your calf? Or below it? Cuz I think I remember being itchy there sometimes when I sweat too (below my calf like a few inches above my achilles tendon). I mean I know I get itchy there sometimes, but I can't remember if it's when I sweat or not...I think it is...I dunno it hasn't happened in a while.

The only thing I could say is use a different soap. Certain soap will make me itchy after a workout because it dries my skin out extra or something and I guess sweat and dry skin doesnt mix. Also if the mats are not cleaned as often as they should it could be irritating your skin. But try using different body soap or laundry soap. Anti-histamine medicine might help if it lasts to long.

Yea I was gonna mention the soap switch. But then I thought, "well your whole body has soap on it, why would it just be on the backs of your legs being irritated"...then after reading your post I remembered that dry skin usually effects certain parts of the body worse than others. I know for a fact I got terrible dry skin in that spot I sometimes itch when sweaty...so you're probably right. Either dry skin, bad soap, or a combination of both.

i have no basis for saying this whatsoever cuz i got no medical training. but what it could be is that when you train your sweat may contain higher levels of something that makes your skin itch?. or it could be that your skin( in the state its in after training) may react ichy when it comes in contact with the salty sweat.

i have the same thing sometimes when ive drunk booze. the next morning when i sweat it sometimes itches like a mtrfcr. i figured it had to do with my body sweatin out the alcohol and that made my skin itch ?

this in combination with the dryskin thingy that wl2fu mentioned maybe

but no ... i dont know

Thanks for the replies, I hope that never happens again. Totally ruined my "exercise".
