Underrated Movies

A couple of my all time favorite moves have come on tv a lately. The movies were "Lord of Illusions" and "The Great White Hype". I noticed that im one of the few people that has these two particular movies on my all time favorites list. It made me start to think about other movies i have seen that got no love. The other ones that immediately came to mind were "Sunshine", "No Retreat, No Surrender", "Southland Tales", and "In the Mouth of Madness". What are some of yours?

I liked "Lord of Illusions" and "In the Mouth of Madness" as well.

I am definitely a fan of horror movies. One of my favorites that may not be underrated but was certainly low key was "Frailty".

I LOVED In the Mouth of Madness. Scared the shit out of me, too.

Also, The Sasquatch Gang ruled, as did Slither.

Carlito's way. Very underrated and IMO, superior to Scarface, when it comes to Pacino and De Palm collaborations.

I watch quite a few "Indie" movies and stuff.

Donnie Darko: Fairly popular movie, but I still knwo people who are like "WTF is that?" Easily my favorite movie of all time.

Jarhead: I saw that movie in theaters and I heard people coming out going "OMFG THAT MOVIE SUCKED." Movie was great, sorry you're too much of an idiot to get it and went to the movie "to see awsum asplooshuns!!!1"

American Zombie: Awesome mockmentary about the Zombie subculture and people living as zombies in everyday life (in the movie, they're real people). ******* hilarious and awesomely done.

Oldboy/Sympothy for Lady/Mr. Vengance: All three fo these movies are a "trilogy" that don't tie directly together, but have common themes. Oldboy has some of the best fight scenes ever put to film (they're realistic fight scenes, dude's get tired and the main guy isn't always like "LOLKUNGFUPWN!"), sympathy for Lady Vengeance is one of the most visually and aesthetically pleasing films I've had the pleasure to watch. The colors and tones of the movie are absolutely gorgeous and it's all implemented extremely well. Sympathy for MR. Vengeance is on par wiht both of them and is a great mixture of the two, witch possibly the best dialog of the three.

Side Note: Steven Spielberg and Will Smith are remaking Oldboy. It's going to blow. I'm sure Steven will either lose the theme or butcher the movie making it "more accessible" to the American Public.

EDIT: Oh an Quarantine. I watched it the other day on netflix and it completely surprised me by how good it was. it looks like a run of the mill thriller/horror movie but it was done WAY better than I thought it would be.

and Joshua, Sunshine is an awesome movie. I loved that movie, so sad that it didn't get the praise it deserves

Also, The Straight Story is one of the most wonderful movies I've ever seen, and yet I don't hear people talking about it. Wonderful is the only word to describe it and it's by far the best David Lynch film.

I really agree with the jarhead comment when people went into the movies thinking it was going to be a violent war movie all came out disappointed, I personally also loved the movie.

Also i really like any Guy Ritchie movie like snatch, revolver, lock stock and two smoking barrels, and the new sherlock Holmes movie looks like it will be good.
