October film frenzy

I was talking the other night about how movies on TV always seem to be so awesome in October, all the scary movies I haven't seen in ages, or ones that are new to me, are on.

What are some of the movies you maybe don't have on DVD but get psyched to watch this time of year?

Some of mine are The Shining, Exorcist III, Shaun of the Dead, Dawn of the Dead (2004), 28 Days Later, and of course pretty much any related Sci-Fi original movie.

Yep! I know exactly what you mean, swpthleg. October is a great month for horror movie fans. I just got all my premium satellite channels back in a nice promotion, so I can't wait to watch some oldies but goodies.

Some of my all time favorites that I never seem to tire of watching are The Shining (the remake of this was surprisingly good), Alien, The Thing (remake), Fright Night, A Nightmare on Elm Street (original), The Omen 1 & 2, Night, Day, Dawn of the Dead (originals), Frailty, Misery, Silence of the Lambs, Evil Dead 1 and 2, also Drag Me to Hell was very good, Christine... I can't think of any more at this time.

The worst horror movie I have ever seen is called "Intermedio" starring Edward Furlong of Terminator 2. It is astonishing how bad this movie is and how far this actor has fallen.

ACK! I forgot about Hellraiser. 1 and 2 were such excellent, old school horror movies. I think I liked 2 the best with evil the doctor. I understand that Hellraiser is being remade at this time, but I am not 100% sure of this.

Confirmation of Hellraiser remake. Also some comments from Clive Barker regarding how he hates PG-13 remakes of horror movies. I agree with him.

Recently saw a movie called "Trickr Treat", obviously halloween-oriented.

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0862856/

reminds me of the old Creepshow films, several horror stories in one film. But they are interestingly woven together. Cast includes a lot of actors you'll probably recognize from TV and movies, Anna Paquin, Brian Cox, Dylan Baker, Tamoh Penikett, Leslie Bibb.

BTW swp you got some great picks there! Although I was honestly a little disappointed by Drag Me To Hell. Gypsy curses just don't scare me.

Everybody good, plenty of slaves for my robot colony?

Oh God they better not make it PG-13. They will weep tears of blood by the time I am done with them if they do...

The origninal "last house on the left". I always watch that around Halloween. Any of the "Halloween" movies. "The people under the stairs". I am a huge horror movie buff. Oh, and any of the "Phantasm" movies.

i can't watch the original last house on the left. makes me sick to my stomach. the remake wasn't a lot better.

Oh, and one movie everyone should see once (preferably halloween) is "The Begotton". I believe it is what the video in "The Ring" is based off of.
