Homeless, but want to become a professional fighter

I live in the state of Washington, I was wondering if there's a way I can get free trainning for either MMA or boxing. I wont be able pay because I cant get a job, i have to panhandle or pull the hustle when things go slow. What keeps me from working is having a felony record on my name and I have to stay in the state or have marshalls after me. I have taking trainning in the dojo and had fights on the street (tho these opponents wern't trained like a boxer or mma fighter). I'am desperate it's been my dream to get into the ring. If anyone knows where I can get free trainning for boxing/and or mma in Washington state. For now I just been talking to people around where I live. There's a mma gym here for BJJ, but you have to pay. any tips or advice will help, thnx.

Not sure if any gym/dojo will train you for no compensation whatsoever. You might want to ask if there is a job you can do there in return for training sessions- working the front desk, cleaning mats and equipment, other janitorial stuff, etc. Tell them exactly what you said here, make it clear that you are passionate and will take any break you can get.

I used to go to a Krav Maga class for free because my brother knew the guy teaching it, and he wanted the class to look more full... but honestly that's a slim chance.

Here in Washington we don't do much for free, unfortunately. Like said before- you'd have to ask to do some work in exchange for classes but it's not extremely likely that it'll happen.

My brother is good friends with a guy who is a Black Belt under Marcelo Alonso and we can't get a free BJJ class to save our lives

Hey Bro. The post about volunteering your time is a good place to start. Training consistently is hard ass work, both mentally and physically for anyone, even if you're not doing it professionally. Diet and a somewhat consistent lifestyle will definitely be to your benefit.

My .02 worth would be to get some kind of relatively stable income, whether it be fast food, stocking shelves, janitorial, whatever, and build from there. The reason I say this is that injuries WILL come, and you will definately need a place to crash without the added BS of street life and homelessness.

Not trying to be preachy, just trying to help.
Good Luck

Hmmm I'm suprised you can't get a job in construction of some sort of manual labor. Assuming you are already in pretty good shape. I'd apply to every manual labor job that you can find you are bound to get hired even with a criminal record. Do you have a drivers liscence, might be able to get a job in delivery or something as well.

Other than that do what everyone else is suggesting and tell the gym you'll work for them in exchange for training. If they say no the first time show up the next day and ask again! Never say die.

Anyways best of luck.

Yea even with a criminial record places will still hire you. and as stated show up daily. One of two things will hapen if you ask a school daily.. they will go.. Damn this guy must be really motivated and finaly say yes.. or they will threaten to call the cops.. Be polite and respectful when you show up. If they say no.. thank them for there time.. be polite.. expect a no. Expect LOTS AND LOTS of no's always be polite.. Don't act defeated when the say no.. even if it the 100th time, come back the next day be polite. Who knows they may take kindly eplain your situation and be honest and upfront. You never know what will happen. Good luck.. but just as hard as you try to find a school to accept you.. try to get a job as well so you can pay for lessons on your own. if you make it it would be an excellent story.

Simple.

Camera. YouTube. Stupid friends that will take a punch. Cool name, like "Kimbo", or something of that nature.

You'll be pro within a year.

Hey thanks for the tips fighters. I understand about the injuries could occure thing, that would mess my day up out here lol. The construction thing could work, I have experience in hardwood flooring. What makes it tough also is i'am 5'91/2 in height at 125 pounds in muscle no body fat, but i got speed i guess. Would a gym turn you off for a small stature? My cardio is good now from walking everday and lifting my gear. For now when Im bored I'd been practicing my reflexes, like a leaf hanging from a tree and let is spring back fast into my face. I practice a simple head weave and to not blink.

You need to meet some of your local fighters and get adgice from them. What happened to me when I joined my first club was I went to the place to sign up but it was never open for some reason, I thought it was shut down. One day when I was at the hill doing sprints (while it was plus 30 lol) there was this other dude there and we started talking about doing sprints up a hill. I mentioned I wanted good cardio for training and he asked where I trained out of. He was a local fighter and invited me to his class the next day. Turns out I was just going there at the wrong time in the evening lol. But point is, you never know who you are going to run into if your expectations are obtainable.

Good luck man. You can do it.
