I would think it would be fine. As long as it is done scabbing.

good question. I continued to train with just a shirt and bandage, every time i rolled on it (upper shoulder) it would break the scab. ended up with a few flecks of poor ink that had to be touched up as a result.

I'd give it at least 2-3 weeks if you're going to be grappling.

well, it seems like you wouldn't be able to do standup without serious flexing of your back and thus stretching the skin, but i didnt do any striking training in that whole period so i can't really say.

last ditch, ask the tattoo artist. i got lucky with my last piercings- my piercer happened to have some bjj background and told me to give the cartilage at least 3 months to heal... boy was he right.

You guys should be more like me, don't train at all. Just drink beer. I'm not as tough as you guys but when I'm drunk I feel like I am, and thats all that really counts. Think of all the pain and sweat and blood you spend, you could get the same results with a 12 pack of beer. Just a thought.

2 weeks if you dont want any touch ups, if your a stubborn bastard and are gonna roll anyway then put a shit load of A+D ointment on it well before you roll as to soften the scab and prevent it from easily coming off and ruining the new work...

Good luck....

yeah i have a few tattoos and they generally take 2-3 weeks. it depends on how much work was actually done. if it is covering your whole upper back it could take around a month.
