See, my reasoning is that if I don't feel sorry for myself, who will? You? probably not. Someone's gotta be sorry and I'll shoulder that burden if no one else.

Recently I ran across a post that I found rather disturbing. This poster who will remain anonymous was judgemental and thought they were entitled to tell people who they don't know what to do.

I dont know if you have noticed but my sig hasn't changed. I could put a quote from a movie I think is cool in it, but I can't be arsed. Just think of your own favourite movie and a line from it and pretend it's in my sig.

Everyone judges people from time to time. Some more than others, but any idiot can sit there and and type up their judgements. We remember those who overcome their inner judgementalist attitude and just let people do what they want and be who they want to be. Not those that stop and take the time to lord their apparent superiority over us lesser beings on an internet forum. They are just a fly on the wall soon to be swatted off the first page and replaced by another thread of judgemntalist elitism. In essence, do what you like.

well you know I guess overcoming adversity has made me a little judgmental over people who complain over the small things a handicap themselves and give up.

lets see here I went from an eight year old with brain cancer to getting a blue belt in Karate being successful high school wrestler and continued to wrestler even after having the plate in my head knocked loose and having a seizer from extreme exhaustion then a fractured elbow. Finally even though I have a learning disability holding a 2.9 GPA at a university with and econ history double major.

what have you had to over come?

All I'm saying is that whatever you going through don't make excuses stop feeling sorry for yourself if you work hard enough you can overcome it I did.

I overcome the urge to tell people I'm better than them because I overcame more
It makes me think of people who lose a lot of weight, then go around giving talks on weight lose... but you know if they couldn't go around telling people about it, they would put the weight back on.

Sorry but on the internet I don't quickly believe peoples given backgrounds.

But on the other hand it is annoying if people are unhappy but don't work on overcoming it.

when did I say I was better than anyone all i am saying is that people arnt helping themselves or anyone else by feeling sorry for themeless and the need to stop it and start working to better themselves. Dont be so judgmental.

ITs like you see someone hitting themselves in the head with a hammer and you tell them stop doing that. you know that it doesn't feel good and you have overcome the desire to hit yourself in the head so you say hey I don't do this and I am a happier person for it so don't do it.

well i got the scars to prove it. However we are speaking over the internet so this doesn't matter.

Exactly.

It's alright to be blue every now and then but don't let it control your life forever. Nobody on Earth would accomplish anything if we all accepted defeat and depression as often as it happens.

Yeah but you seem to me to be implying to be depressed for a long time is proof of not trying to improve. Which I don't think is true. Someone with severe depression can struggle for ever and never improve. Or someone with minor problems, can never try, never really suffer from it, but complain and be a big emo.

The so-called ‘psychotically depressed’ person who tries to kill herself doesn’t do so out of quote ‘hopelessness’ or any abstract conviction that life’s assets and debits do not square. And surely not because death seems suddenly appealing. The person in whom Its invisible agony reaches a certain unendurable level will kill herself the same way a trapped person will eventually jump from the window of a burning high-rise. Make no mistake about people who leap from burning windows. Their terror of falling from a great height is still just as great as it would be for you or me standing speculatively at the same window just checking out the view; i.e. the fear of falling remains a constant. The variable here is the other terror, the fire’s flames: when the flames get close enough, falling to death becomes the slightly less terrible of two terrors. It’s not desiring the fall; it’s terror of the flames. And yet nobody down on the sidewalk, looking up and yelling ‘Don’t!’ and ‘Hang on!’, can understand the jump. Not really. You’d have to have personally been trapped and felt flames to really understand a terror way beyond falling.

As I said this doesn't imply to those in sever depression they can and need to get help with medicine and psychiatrist. I am talking about you average everyday person who sets on their ass every day and starts making excuses and feeling sorry or themselves instead of getting off their ass and working to better their situation because it doesn't help them at all.

My intent of this thread was not for it to be a criticism but instead to inspire people to stop playing the victim and start working to achieve something.
