The US is every bit as dangerous. Not always in the same way, but we are still lulled by a false sense of security, IMO.

There are PLENTY of dangerous places in the US that are not "ghetto." The only reason why that places "seems" so dangerous is because rap music glorifies violence and that's what you hear down there.

Here is the honest to god truth about most hoods in america. (I say most because some really are just bad places to be, and you could die by going there.) No one in any hood or gang will mess with you if you're wearing the right colors and your minding your own business. Don't wear red or blue EVER! Purple and green and sometimes yellow can be bad. Anything else is fine. No one will mess with you, in fact, most people are actually friendly.

Sorry for asking, but are you American? You seem to know a lot more about the situation in my country than most American people I came across.

There was many things that were better under apartheid. I remember being able to jog for 10km alone, or cycling 40km alone, without a man close to protect me. To me that meant freedom.

Today I feel unsafe walking 1km away from my home. I jumped into someone's property with vicious guard dogs once, just to escape 4 black men who tried to attack me. To be honest, I rather be bitten to death by rottweilers than be raped by 4 black men.

I lived in and around Detroit for 5 years, and this is absolutely true, IMO.

Move to America.I live in Northern California and its a really nice place... south cali is the shithole. But even then south cali isn't even close to as bad as SA is.You don't get gangs of minorities roaming the streets looking for white woman to ****(except in the worst piece of shit places like inner city detroit, oakland, or richmond).
I probably will move to America or maybe Australia, depending on where it will be the best I guess.

My mother and father can't move, and I will feel terrible to leave my mother now. She suffered 3 strokes, and she is only 58 years old. She gave a big part of her life to me, the least I can do is to be there for her until she dies, which I don't think will be much longer.

I saw photos of Cali, and I agree with you. It really is a beautiful place.

I would have moved a long time ago if I didn't care for those I loved.

If safety is important, I'm pretty sure Aus is safer than America.

I really think that about any country is safer than SA right now. There are other countries that are in war, and they are even considered to be safer to live in than SA. So whether it is America, Canada or Australia, will make a huge difference in any case.
