That's more than the next 7 most dangerous dog breeds combined.

I've always said no one should have a bull dog around kids. Now I do. She's the sweetest dog in the world she sleeps with my kids and watches over them like they were hers.

I keep telling myself she's a boxer.
The only problem with statistics like that, is that people who couldn't tell an amstaff apart from a pitbull would definitely describe it as a pitbull anyway. One always have to take those things into account as well, and they do skew the statistics up a bit. They're not as reliable as they should be.

The fact that pitbulls are some of the most vicious guard dogs in the world has to play a part in those statistics.

I work at an emergency dispatch center and 80-90 percent of our animal bite calls also hail from the same part of the city where the police make us stage when they do drug busts and run warrants.

I wonder if there are any studies addressing the potential similarities between the two concepts?
Crime rate : Attacks by pit bulls.

Would definitely lend credence to the concept of environment over genetics

Yes that would change everything if the truth were that it was actually pit bulls and dogs who look just like pit bulls who were responsible for more attacks than the next 7 most dangerous breeds.

I think it's environment.

I'm not sure if the average person could tell a boxer or an english bulldog apart from a pitbull, let alone american staffordshire terriers and the likes. Pitbulls and other terriers might be a bit more aggressive than other breeds, but we won't know by how much. Anyway, my point was that those statistics aren't reliable, even though they can give a somewhat good overall picture.

Ironically, I've read statistics from my country, saying that golden retrievers attack most people every year.

Yeah, but they're pretty unhealthy nowadays from what I've heard.

Mentally unstable golden retrievers get to breed despite not being stable enough, and the offspring carries on the unstable behaviour and so on.

Honestly, we don't know what she is. The "gentleman" who sold her to my kids at a flea market called her an American bulldog. The vet says she's a boxer.

Ironically, I wanted a Golden retriever.

Pit Bulls account for more attacks because they are used to fights and be aggressive, and therefor there are more aggressive ones around than other breeds which is because of their powerful build. There are just more aggressive ones out there because of the owners habits. It makes it more likely. If freaking minature pinchers were used that way, there would be more little ass bites as well.
