Sometimes i think the Cage has been a burden for the UFC. I hear alot of people saying that the UFC is putting 2 men in a cage and letting them go at it like dogs. Then at the same time they will try and say that the boxing ring has class that the ufc cage doesnt have. They obviously dont care to use logic to realize that there is a reason they use a cage and that a cage isnt any more brutal then the ring would be.

I guarantee if the UFC promoted the sport as "Mixed Martial Arts" and used a ring it would be aloooot more acceptable to people. Instead for the UFC to gain recognition they had to use slogans/words that made the UFC seem more brutal then it was.
Anyone remember the commercial "Whats real. Wrestling?? not a chance, Boxing?? not any more!!, THIS IS REAL!!" and then it proceeded to show a whole bunch of knock outs.

Even though that type of advertisement was necessary it also burned an ILLOGICAL imprint in the older peoples minds so for some reason they think a Cage is more brutal and degrading then a ring is AND that the UFC is extremely dangerous, way more dangerous then boxing. Both thoughts are completely illogical BUT thats the way it is.

I would rather the ring tbh, I wouldn't fall out the ring i'm pretty sure, then again there would be no room for pettis kicks if we got rid of it

Have you watched Pride?? people fell out somewhat often. Also the rules pretty much hurt wrestlers and favored strikers. Not saying that isnt more exciting sometimes BUT it hurts the sport. The Cage was created so no style gets favored over the other just like a sport should be.

To me Pride was more for entertainment, while the UFC is more of a sport.

Yeah but I hate wall and stalling too, I mean that's not wrestling really, double legs and and throws and stuff is wrestling but wall and stalling on a cage isn't and its boring and annoying.

good wrestlers can use the fence for takedowns, can keep someone down and pound him down against the fence, ETC. It might not be the sport "wrestling" BUT good wrestlers are still good at that stuff. I dont like stalling and i think it should be abolished BUT you can use the fence and not be stalling. Also using the fence to get up is a skill not everyone poses. All that should be a part of MMA in my opinion. Fighters shouldn't be "lucky" that they are fighting in a ring instead of the cage. Anything you can do in a ring you can also do in the cage BUT vice versa and it does not imply.
