I did not add running to my workouts last week after Tuesday, just did MMA standup (pad work, bag drills, shadowboxing, some jump rope) for that very reason. You are quite right re: the possibility of injury, that's why I didn't run more this past week and iced a lot.

I didn't have to take any aspirin before I ran today, which is a good sign. I imagine I'll be icing them tonight anyway, b/c my instructor loves jump rope.

I am talking the small swplet through tying her belt. Our current dojo ties it differently than our TKD dojang. She takes karate in one part of a giant room and I take kickboxing in another, and if she catches me smiling at her she makes a Diego mean face LMAO!

HAHA very nice I bet thats a site!!!! And it seems like you have the shins under close watch and thats good just stretch your calves also if you havnt been because that can cause pain also from a muscular imbalance where the anterior tibialis becomes overstretched. .....Pretty much your muscles in front try to over work. Not to sound preachy

I spent 8 hours today playing solitaire, mah jong, chess and minesweeper. It seems that I may be doing this for another week at least. They aren't quite ready for us and we have nothing do do at my new job. IBM won't tell them anything about the servers we are gonna be monitoring lol bastards!


No really though, I was bored out of my friggin mind all day...and they have MMAForum blocked

Sparring was lame. It was just drills working off the blitz over and over.

Fortunately prior to that kickboxing was great. It was the usual dynamic floor drills (you move up and down the floor alternately striking and blocking/countering with your partner) and then about 10 1-minute intervals where you could throw whatever combination you wanted, you just had to throw the same one for that increment.

My partner was a tall kid who looks skinny and wimpy but is not. He let me beat him up and was confident enough in my coordination that he threw more intricate and aggressive combinations toward the end of class.
