Are you really comparing burning someones house to ashes to a few bullet holes in the house, if for nothing else give it a chance for restoration not complete destruction, well I hope they compensate the fellow who owns it for his sake.
Absolutely. You do what you have to for your safety and that of the community... especially when dealing with such a high risk suspect. If the swat team determined high heat tear gas was the safest thing to do for their protection (especially after one of their officers had been killed), you do it without considering property damage. It is the exact same thing as shooting back for your safety. The LAST thing on your mind should be property damage / destruction. A cop died. A psychopathic murdered was killed. This entire thing was put to an end... and you're worried about property damage. Nice.
