Dunno, it was kinda "meh" to me. The whole ghost buster thing seemed a bit too absurd to me, I just couldn't suspend my disbelief. To me the movie made it seem like the Warrens went to the houses of a bunch of stupid people, checked to see if they had some valuable stuff, said it was haunted and then looted the place. Plus I had seen the scary parts all a hundred times before (The Exorcist meets Birds meets Chucky meets Steven King's It; or if you want to get more modern Paranormal Activity meets Sinister meets any of the countless posession movies made recently). It basically lost me when for the billionth time someone got dragged out of a bed by an invisible thing.

Yeah, in the movie your not going to see anything you haven't seen before. But in this movie everything is done right.

It gets 7.8 on IMDB which is an amazing score for a horror... to put it into perspective Sinister only got 6.7. If you like Amityville Horror and Poltergeist then you will like this.

I reckon this movie sits firmly somewhere in my top 10 horrors list.

IMDB is a bunch of real reviews mixed in with hundreds of fake "10 out of 10 stars" bought reviews that were online BEFORE the movie even came out. Pacific Rim was 8.4 the first week after it came out and it has gone downhill ever since that because that's when the real reviews came in. Just sort the reviews by date and you will see a pattern.

Yeah I agree... you can't tell from the first hundred or so votes. You get people giving movies 10 stars and others scoring the same movie 0.

Since The Conjuring has nearly 40,000 votes plus over 300 reviews written on it and 253 critic reviews, I reckon it's fair to say that the majority reckon its a great film.

It gets an 86% fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes and Metacritic gives it 68.

So it must just be your poor taste in movies Hammer

And in other news... I thought this was quite cool

I have never thought anything of movie reviews as 99% of them are written by cynical people who can't actually just sit down and just enjoy a movie, they have to critique it and break it down to a point where you can make any movie suck or on the flip side make it look better than what it actually is.

Having kind of a "lost" day, meh.

Man, I thought Shogun vs Chael was tonight! Guess I gotta watch Tyrone destroy Deanda instead.

Way more interested in the Grffin/JZ fight. Four more hours of work to go, then beer and fights.

Nah, can't be. Ninja Cheerleaders is clearly an awesome movie and everywhere I look it has bad ratings so...

Just watched Grave Encouters which has 6.0 on IMDB and it wasn't all that great (although the whole reality show idea was carried out well in my opinion). I guess you can justify a 7.8 on The Conjuring if you compare it to the really bad movies that still get moderately good ratings.
